Best course I've this year in Middle Tennessee
I don't write many reviews but I feel compelled to do so, especially considering course conditions in middle Tennessee this year. I've played Governors Club, Kings Creek and few others and ALL I've played did not fair well with either our harsher than normal winter or planting of new greens. Greystone is the exception. I've played this course somewhere around 20 times now and it is by far my favorite course in the area. It's a 40 minute drive for me but it's well worth it. While I admit the course was in better condition last season, it's still only marginally below last year. They've had a fair number of tournaments recently and even with the greens being 'beat-up' a bit, they are still VERY good. If I lived closer, I'd likely join. The course is not very forgiving, although some holes are, but it's beautiful and worth the drive. I convinced a few neighbors and friends to give it a try and they all agree with me and this review. If this course was in Franklin, TN instead of Dickson, it would probably cost you 2-3 times the price they charge currently.
Grey stone
Great course. Kept up extremely well.
Every green, hazard and fairway were immaculate.
Great course
This course is maintained very well. The holes are a challenge for any handicap using the proper tee box. The vista is beautiful and the staff is very friendly and efficient. Greens and fairways are in very shape.
Great!
Greens and fairways in excellent condition - the best I've seen in a while! Well worth the drive! There were quite a few bunkers, but not much water. And excellent course, we'll be back!
Solid choice
Located approximately 50 minutes from Nashville, Greystone is located in scenic Dickson. Take the 96 highway to enjoy the rural sights. We were greeted most pleasantly and all the staff for the rest of the day were equally as pleasant. The course was in very good shape. The fairways were rolling and the greens were firm and true. The green speed was excellently. This was my first time playing the case and I would definitely recommend it to everyone. Make sure you stay to the right of the rock on #17. The wind was up so judge yr club selection accordingly! Enjoy.
One of the best in town
I checked reviews before booking, and was not disappointed. So far this year Greystone is holding better than rest of the courses in Nashville area.
Please reviews of courses you play, we help each other.
Thank you
Great greens
We tee off at 12:00 and the course was wide open. We played 18 holes in 3 1/2 hours. The greens were in great shape and fast. The fairways were a bit rough and could have been mowing but ,not terrible bad. Use bug spray if you can't keep the ball in the fairway (Chiggers). All and all this is a great value and I would recommend playing.
Remarkable conditions considering the weather
This is one of my favorite courses in the area. The course was in great shape considering the winter we have had. There are still a few spots that need to heal up but I was real surprised at the conditions. I just wish some people would repair their ball marks and a couple others on the greens. I will return again very soon.
Great Course!
Played here for the 9th year in a row. This is a Great course, just 45 minutes from Nashville. The fairways were still a little dormant, but were in great shape. The greens were a little hard and fast, nothing was holding, but they putted true. It is such a unique layout, any new person in our group just loves it. Plus the rate is fair.
If you are in the Nashville area, or heading to Memphis from the north, stop and give this course a try, you won't be sorry/.
This is a very nice course
Front nine was in very good condition, however I could not understand why it was cart path only, it didn't appear to be wet to me. There where several greens on the back nine that were very bumpy from being punched. Overall I really like this course, the staff in the pro shop were very friendly and helpful.
Awesome
Got a chance to play on the way out of town. This is a neat course. Good conditions and challenging course. Really enjoyable. Love the elevation changes.
Excellent course and service
Great value, challenging and extremely friendly staff. true southern hospitality
Great track!!
I played Greystone for my first round of 2014. A buddy and I traveled from Toledo Ohio to the Nashville area and this course was first on our list. The Bermuda was dormant and this is the only reason the course conditions weren't 5 star. The course is extremely challenging but completely fair. Our round had 20 mph wind and still you could put up good scores. The staff here and Jim the manager were some of the friendliest people I've met so far playing golf. I would recommend this course to anyone and will definitely be making this trip to Nashville and to Greystone specifically an annual event for me and my buddies.
Great course
The course was in good condition, especially considering the time of year and the non-cooperative weather for the growing season. Staff is excellent and very courteous. I always try to get a round in here when I'm in the area.
Early Season Golf
This was my first round of the year and loved it. I always enjoy Greystone, it is the best course for the price in all of middle Tennessee. This being the second week in March after the toughest winter in decades it understandable that it is not in tournament condition.Within a couple of weeks the fairways will liven up and the dormant grass will make way for excellent conditions. It looks as if aeration took place just a short time ago, so you will have to deal with a small amount of sand on the greens. If you find yourself being extremely picky then I would hold off play for a couple weeks. I wouldn't suggest walking this course. The bunkers are in good condition. Stay below the hole on 4. green on five needs a little work but pin placement is good. Stay left on your layup on 9.
Aerated greens, no warning no discount.
Greystone has long been a favorite of mine. But to aerate the greens and give no heads up, no discounted rate is unforgivable. Course maintenance is obviously a necessity, but I'm not ok with driving all the way from Nashville to find out the course is essentially unplayable. Won't be back for a while if ever.
Well kept greens and fairways
Enjoyed the course for the second time. A lot of blind shots that if not familiar could ruin your day but overall had a good time
Thanks for your feedback, we hope to see you soon!
One of the best courses in the area
Greens were in great shape and course is maintained well
Thanks for your feedback, we are happy to hear that we are one of your favorite courses. As you mentioned course maintenance is a necessity. However, it is a priority to make our guests aware of any abnormal playing conditions when they call to book a tee time or inquire about the course. While our updated course condition information is not available on GolfNow, please feel free to call us anytime for updates. Our greens were aerated January 20th and our rates are discounted for up to two weeks after the aerification process. We regret the course was not in the condition you have come to expect, we hope to see you again.
