Sleepy Hollow Golf Course
About
Sleepy Hollow Golf Course is the top municipal course in the state and it is also ranked as one of the top 20 in the nation. Overlooking the Cuyahoga River Valley, the course is known for its scenery almost as much as its challenging layout. It has a traditional design with a classic "out-and-in" routing, with the incoming holes playing uphill into the wind, making them seem much longer than the indicated yardage. Golfers might be taken aback by the punishing nature of the golf course. There are 58 bunkers strategically placed around the tough greens, which comprise the main challenges of the course. Get ready to be quickly introduced to the Sleepy Hollow Golf Course's formidability with the lengthy second hole, a par 3 that will test even the longest hitters.

Cleveland’s best courses
I am a single digit handicap who was once scratch, now about an 8-9.
Sleepy Hollow - Fantastic - greens were somewhat slow and bumpy though….. The whole course was a touch soft in general . Good shot values with a variety of resistance to scoring….. just a solid design in average condition.
I played, what I thought were cleveland’s best on a short golf trip and
Ranking them I’d say
1) Manakiki
2) sleepy hollow
Distant 3rd
3) fowlers mill
Manakiki and sleepy Hollow - both fantastic….. very comparable- I would simply give the edge to Manakiki, because their greens were in much better shape ( firm- fast / true )
Fowlers mill was AWFUL - a swamp - not sure how this course gets its high praise - hated it.
Course was great
Played yesterday shot a 71 the greens had been aerated but rolled pretty good but not as fast as usual at this course. Course was wide open I think due to this it was very nominal in my opinion. Come play here it is fun but hard.
Great course. Awful staff.
Booked a tee time through GN on short notice. Had a misunderstanding of the number of players, and was unable to cancel through GN prior to the tee time. I Informed the club house we had one less player, and I was told they would take care of canceling. A week later GN informs me the course charged a no-show fee. Called the course, they insisted it was GolfNow’s decision to charge the no-show fee. GN insisted it was the course’s decision to implement the no-show policy, and thus they had to charge me because the course charged them. All in all, the staff was very unprofessional about the whole situation, and this was also stated by a GN representative who was part of a conference call in an attempt to sort the whole thing out.
Amazing track!
Drove an hour to play here and worth every minute. Pulled in and immediately felt welcome. Staff was excellent. Each hole has a uniqueness to it and you’re going to play just about every club in your bag. Stay out of the rough, it’s thick and penalizing. Fairways are kept in great shape so use them. Greens rolled great and I highly recommend staying below the hole as these greens will roll out well beyond a comfortable length if not careful. Overall this was one of the most enjoyable rounds I’ve played and would highly recommend this course as it is absolutely one of the best courses I’ve played.
COURSE IN EXCELLENT CONDITION
Played with my boys for Fathers Day - great time had by all. Course in excellent condition - greens held and are fast and true.
My only complaint - yardage markers. I'm not a gps guy and sticks are cheap.
Tough but fair.
Like all Metro Park courses it’s in great shape. Greens are fast and pin placement can make for a bad score even if you’re hitting it well. Very enjoyable course, but it will be slow because it is a tough public course. Be patient and have fun.
Always a pleasure
The course was in good shape even though it hadn’t rained in 20 days. Lots of fairway runout and fast greens. The greens are something else, slow into the grain, and lightning fast with the grain. The hole placement can be brutal at times. It is always enjoyable. Don’t go out planning to play quick.
I played this course as part of a golf trip to/around the Cleveland area in late May 2023. This course was included on our itinerary based on its listing as a Top Course by Golf Advisor.
PACE: Was the first group off the tee. With a 4some behind us, we had the course all to ourselves. Given the difficulty of this course, I could image a 4.5+ hour being played here.
CONDITIONS: Perfect... for what they're going for. The green speed is fast, but not unplayable. The rough is thick, but with as many hills and slopes as this course has I would image the rough needs to be thick/high to stop a ball from just rolling along. The tees, bunkers, and everything else were top notch.
STAFF: Really friendly and had a lot of insights. They want you to enjoy the course, but also want you to be aware of its difficulty. The starter gave us a more than sufficient explanation/outline of the course.
VALUE: Seemed fair give the quality of the course.
LAYOUT: Per the starter's recommendation, we played the 6,000 yard tees (Green, I believe). I would have preferred to play the 6,300 yard tees, but am glad the starter made the suggestion to move up.
The hills this place is built on are nuts! As noted above, I don't think the greens are THAT fast but given the slopes on the greens you cannot be above the hole. If you are above the hole, be happy with a 3-putt. For your approaches, if you can miss a green short. Off the tee the course isn't that tight, but given the thick rough out there you do start to feel the added pressure of putting the ball in the fairway. This course is an excellent challenge. Also, we did walk this course. In the end we played a challenging round AND got our cardio in for the day!
Great course, very well kept
One of the better courses in the Cleveland area. The layout is very fun and challenging. The greens are always in great condition as well.
