Great value!
First time on the course as a I travel a lot as a corporate pilot. Good course. Fairways were nice, friendly staff. Challenging course. Greens were rough, ball tended to bounce around a lot. However, it was a great value, I would play the course again. Better than some of the courses that I play on a regular basis in my home state. I play once a week, just an average golfer.
Nice course but green were poor
This course is nicely designed and a fair golf course - but the green were not very nice....
Ok for the money
Fairways were green thanks to all the rain lately, but they could use some up keep.
Most of the Greens were pretty bad. All and all its what you'd expect for the $10 I paid on golfnow.
I would maybe play again but I wouldn't recommend to a friend.
Fair golf course
The fairways are acceptable but could be better. The greens looked pretty bad but actually putted very true and fast. I like the layout of the course. Overall a good experience
Course condition
They have lost the greens and fairways. The drink prices are awesome.
The most unfriendly counter staff in San Antonio area.
I enjoy the course very much, but the counter staff almost always gives us some sort of problem.
This maybe be last time I play Northcliffe.
If you use golfnow make sure you have a print out.
Even then it may not help.
We had paid for a cart and they didn't give us one, because it was cold and they wanted to close the proshop and go home which they did. So we walked the front 9.
As for the course it is great. Normally kept in good shape.
awesome golfing atmosphere...
Overall golfing experience was pleasant one. Golf course was in good overall condition except for some of the greens but was satisfied with my round of golf....would return staff was very friendly and courteous. ...
Horrible
I've played this course quite a few times before. Was in horrible shape the last time I played last year and figured I would give them another chance, but unfortunately it was no better! Don't waste your money.
needs allot of work
I played here for the first time in 5 yrs.I thought it would be in the low $20's but cost $29 + tax. Very poor shape. Pot holes galore, some deep, esp. on first hole. Green looking grass was weeds spaced with gumbo,dirt,etc..The greens were dead grass and had hardened so fast as lightning, but direction was erratic. all in all we fled, won't return.
Summary, weeds, potholes, dirt, gumbo and a layout with oddly placed trees, and course is flanked by tract homes along all holes.
Many years ago with no homes,it had promise, even though the clubhouse as now,is shabby, and then the pool was abandoned. REMINDS ME A LOT LIKE: Woodlake, and Northern hills, all 60's country clubs on hard times.None will survive.
Average Course
This is a course that has a lot of potential if it is properly maintained and brought up to standard. Layout includes some challenging holes and was in fair condition considering it was January. Greens were extremely hard and fast. Bunkers filled with dirt/gravel vs good sand. For the golf now discount price this is a good value. Would not play it if I had to pay full price. Many other quality options in the San Antonio and surrounding areas.
Great for time of year
Winter Texans anxious to get out on a course. Very good fairway conditions for this time if year, had to wait until March last year to have these conditions. Great value.
Rained the Night Before
Course doesn't drain well, rained about one inch around midnight and still hundreds of standing water pools on the fairway early afternoon. Also very muddy where grass was thin, like around trees. Greens drained well and were in good shape, but tee boxes were mud pits and sand bunkers had standing water or were muddy and unplayable. And of course, it was cart path only. But after several dreary weather days it was great to be out in 65 degree sunshine, so, yeah, it was a great day.
Terrible greens Unfriendliest staff around
I purchased a tee time on golf now. When I checked in for my 2 pm tee time the man behind the counter said I could only play nine holes. I told him the tee time was for 18. He said there was no way I could finish and that carts had to be in by 5:15 pm. He said "you will only play nine holes". He was one of the most rude individuals I have ever dealt with on a golf course. As far as the course goes. Terrible greens and tee boxes. It's sad to see the state of this course. The owner needs to take a hard look at his staff. Rude behavior will cost u customers. And by the way, my dad and I finished 18 holes by 4:45 pm.
Nice course/Good value
Nice wide open fairways. Fair to a 24 handicapper. Surprised myself with a 93. I'd go back. There are other better AND more expensive courses but Northcliffe is a good combination of quality and price.
Northcliffe Golf near San Antonio
A year ago, our golf group played here and the facilities were a little shabby.
A year later little has changed.
Worth the discounted fee paid through Golf Now.
Not as nice as it use to be
The greens are bad. Ball hops all the way to the hole and greens have a lot of cancer. Large spots of water in fairways made it muddy at times.
Good value
Starter was friendly. Counter staff a tad gruff. Fairways and bunkers far from great but better than other low price courses. As good as you'll find in this price area. Great rate found on Golfnow.
try it, you'll like it!
Great day and a fast round! No con gestation till the 17th hole.
Fun course to play
The course is in relatively good shape for this time of the year. Bunkers need some sand. I try to play there a couple of times a month. It is an enjoyable round of golf and most of the time we play a round of golf in less than 4 hours. The green fees through Golf Now are great! Try it out!!
a good layout
overcrowded, greens and fairways poor condition, not enough watering and no sand in bunkers almost impossible to hit a sand shot. basically an eighth inch sand and concrete underneath. granted drought conditions not the courses fault, overall i paid 17.00 for a round with a cart. wouldnt have paid that if i knew the course was in that bad of shape.
