About
Grand Oaks Golf Club enjoys a peaceful, tranquil setting among century-old oak trees and an abundance of wildlife. The course is as challenging as it is scenic with tree-lined fairways and small greens that will test your accuracy. It may have a traditional design but there is still some bite to this round. There are several strategically placed bunkers that lurk greenside to challenge you even further. Two meandering creeks weave along the golf course as well, coming into play on a few holes. The layout has a nice mix of holes from reachable par 5s to tough par 3s. Grand Oaks Golf Club is a fair test that is player friendly enough to appeal to players of all skill levels. There are some birdie opportunities available if you play it smart and it's forgiving enough for high handicappers to approach with confidence.

Rough shape for winter golf
Extremely tight lies around the greens made it almost impossible to chip. Fairways were very wispy and didn't have much grass, the recent rains looks like they took a toll. 5 hour round waiting on every tee box made for a frustrating round, won't be back during the Winter

Great time on a great course.
I’ve played here a number of times. Took my son out for the first time. The course was in great shape. We had a good pace of play, teeing off at 8:20. I’ve had some great rounds there, but this was one of the greatest. Go play this course if you never have. It’s not long and not very difficult. Looking forward to my next round there. Enjoy.

Grand oaks
Course is a fun layout, easy to walk 18. They do need to improve the yardage markers. Have flag sticks that will pick up a laser range finder. Or have GPS system, I own a Garmin GPS grand oaks is not listed on. Also need to put markers where water comes into play.

Need a guide to help get to and around the course.
Very confusing entering the facility if you have never been here. The front is not marked well. The parking lot is really torn up so dont bring a nice car. The old clubhouse is shutdown so once you read the sign on the door you will figure out that you have to walk around and down the hill to get to where you check in at. After all that and you get to the course you will find out that it is fairly open except for the ponds and creeks that run throughout the whole course. I would say the tee boxes were in good shape. The fairways and the roughs were cut very short and not much winter grass around. The greens were pretty flat and true and in decent shape. The staff was nice and the beverage cart ran often. Overall i would play this course again because it is a good value not so much because it is a great course. The creeks were hidden very well in the fairways as well as a few ponds tucked over hills. I would guess the second time through would be much easier than the first.

Worth the Money
Played this course once about 15 years ago but don't remember much about it. It was very challenging today because of the wind. Lots of water so it helps if you know where to "miss" it. All in all it was a good experience.

Great course for the money
Overall this is a great course for the money. Took some getting used to the quick, hard greens. Also this course did not come up on my Garmin golf watch. Maybe because they have so many creeks running through all the fairways it would be tough to program in all the distances. Now that I think about it I don’t think they had any markers in the fairways or cart paths except 150 poles.

Challenging course
There’s a lot of water. Greens are very hard to hit if you are not spot on. They are upside down frying pans. First time playing this course I was not aware of all of the water hazards. Some are in the middle of fairway and you cannot see them. A course book would be very helpful here. Good conditions and good greens.

Run of the mill average
Decided to try out a new course and chose Grand Oaks. The staff was excellent upon arrival. The course layout didn't provide a lot of surprises and was relatively straightforward with water in play on 16 of the holes. It didn't seem by design, but more like the water was the drainage of the surrounding neighborhood. Greens were in good shape, but they don't have much terrain or have much break for the most part.
I don't think I will going back because there are better courses in Dallas.

Good Course in Good Weather
There's water on nearly every hole. Areas around the greens were fantastic.
Pictures don't do this course justice. This is a good course.
If the area has gotten a lot of rain, I'm not sure this is the best. I went a day after about .75 inch of rain and it there were no restrictions.
