Grand Oaks Golf Club

I checked in about 40 minutes early for our tee time. As we were called to the tee, a single who'd been on the back 9 jumped in front of us, and he was behind a very slow pair who was behind an even slower foursome. I do not understand why golfers who can't break 100 insist on playing from the 2nd farthest tees, as Grand Oaks can be a real challenge for single handicaps when it's this wet, much less 30 handicappers. At any rate, there were no signs anywhere (clubhouse, on course, etc.) that said cart path only, and when I checked out a cart, the pro shop did not say anything to me or the 3rd person who was assigned to our group. However, that did not stop a grumpy staff member from coming by twice and yelling at us to get back on the cart path. We could have understood it being cart path only on a couple of holes due to the rain, but we weren't told at the pro shop and there are no signs, so maybe tone down the grumpy marshal a bit.

In the end, it was a good round for both my son and I and was for sure better than 4 hours at the office. We will play here again at some point when it fits the schedule.

I love this course. It’s like a hidden gem. It’s wide open and I love that. Greens are little fast when you chip into it but hard to read when putting. Overall I love the course and will definitely come back. The pace of play at around 12:50 pm was great. Nobody behind us nor in front for a while.

Course was in relatively good shape considering the heat wave we've been in, but the greens, while good turf, were a bit shaggy which made them slow and a little bumpy. The one bunker I was in was in need of grooming. Most of the tee boxes had terrific turf, but were covered with so much tree debris, I wish I had brought my broom. All in all, a great layout and I hope to play it again when it cools off some. Oh, if you don't like water, move along.

Will definitely go back. I was part of a twosome, didn’t know the other player, and the clubhouse attendant let me know that we’d probably catch a couple of foursomes in front of us. We caught 2 groups and they both let us play through without a problem. We didn’t catch anyone else after that and played the round in 2:45. The course was challenging, but forgiving. I will definitely be back

Good average course with average value. Lots of water. Decent condition course. Fast play as it seems like not a lot of people know about it. Good quick round for a decent price. I'd definitely be back.

This course is like courses were about 20 years ago when shot making and ball placement was the way courses were played. I prefer this type of course over the courses that are designed for the long hitters.Play this course if you like to shape your shots.Water comes into play on every hole.

Course was in pretty good shape, especially in August in Texas. Greens were a little fast and had been aerated recently I'd say, but they were receptive and the fairways were in good shape. Staff was great, very friendly. Layout was pretty solid as well. Pace was a little slower than I'd normally play but I still finished in about 3 and a half hours. Only thing I wish was more shaded spots to get under while waiting on the group ahead. But it wasnt too terrible at all

The course is in great shape. It has been at least 10 years since I last played it. The course is tough. For the most part, the holes are straight, but they are tight and have water hazards strategically placed. The greens are in great shape, but they are small and fast. The field marshall was very friendly and made it a point to encourage my daughter (16) to continue to play golf and beat her dad. My daughter wants us to play it again soon.

Course was overall in pretty good shape. Pace of play was a little slow. Staff was great. The marshall named Jimmy was fantastic trying to speed things up without issues.

I love this course the layout is awesome, great staff who treat you with respect each time you come in. I shot my first 79 on this course 2 weeks ago. This is one of my favorite courses I bring everyone too!!!! Awesome

Nobody was rushing us to play or even visible behind us or in front of us. Considering the renovation and workers there it was still in great shape! It was the first time I had the opportunity to play the course and definitely not the last time we tee off here!

I was very impressed with the greens. Smooth and fast.

The only negative is there aren’t any restrooms in the pro shop. I had to go to hole #3 for that and there wasn’t any sink to wash your hands with.

Played this course for the first time. Fun, challenging hole layouts and the course was in great shape. Several hidden water hazards on tee shots. Greens were in excellent shape. Really enjoyed my round here and I will likely go play here again very soon.
