Red Wolf Golf Resort
About
There's no doubt Red Wolf Golf Resort is a Texas-themed facility, complete with holes named after the Harrington's bulls (they are providers of bulls for professional rodeos) and a Southwestern-styled clubhouse. As for the golf course, Jay Riviere's design has always been considered a fine layout. Take advantage of the easier front nine by scoring well on the opening holes. No. 9 is the most difficult hole on the course. It shoots through a narrow opening uphill into the sloped fairway. This one is mean -- it was formerly a par 5 -- and requires a long approach over a lake.

Doesn’t look bad in the picture but it is. Luckily there’s been a lot of rain. Give it a couple of weeks in this heat it will all be brown. Photo submitted by u480307563 on 08/06/2024

Nice course and getting better
I enjoy playing this course as it gets closer to spring it shaping up nicely.
The greans are mushy with all the rain but run true.
Great Southeast Texas Golf Course
I had a great experience playing Red Wolf. My first round here was a winter day, the turf was wet, though my drives still carried well. The greens were easy to hit and spin back. If you like variety, i.e., course layout, shot making on at least 9 of the holes, the other half a piece of cake, you'll enjoy Red Wolf.
*Suggestion - Open your Maps app before you go and you can fly over the course to get the layout. It's really a beautiful ever green course, even in the winter.
Great course
I always enjoy playing here, it is always a challenge and now that the bridges are all fixed it is easy to move about. Looking forward to when the grill reopens
Greens drain poorly
There was a good rain during the early morning hours. The fairways and bunker did well draining the water, however, the greens were like a sponge. Every step in the greens left footprints of what seemed to be at least .5 inch deep. This made putting impossible and every approach shot from greater than 50 yds left the ball plugged in the green.
Poorly built greens.
Great golf
Great golf, fun and challenging. The staff is friendly and helpful would recommend this course to anyone! The greens are in great shape despite the snow and ice this winter, not to mention the deviation from the hurricane. They lost bridges and have built them back already and are quickly getting the club house back in order. Good time!
Great value
I’ve played this course many times over the years...after a brief (25yr) layoff I found myself playing this course 3 times in the last 2 weeks. The course overall is in great shape, the greens have been reall soft, so lots of divots (REPAIR YOUR DIVOTS) but rolling relatively well. The bridge is still out between 8 and 9 so you play 10-18 then 9 to 1-8 so there is a bit of a drive back in...not a big deal. Small practice green area is nice to work on, driving range is basically sand, so ok to get loosened up, but not much else. Staff is great, atmosphere is great, will be back often!
dog
I miss that black dog that would always be hanging out at the clubhouse. I miss seeing him strolling down the cart paths like he owned the place
Successfully recovering from Harvey
The golf course was completely inundated during the Harvey so the golf amenities are still in the repair mode. The course is, however, well playable and a great value for the money. Greens were surprisingly fast and in great condition.
Nice layout with great potential
I have played other courses that were impacted by Harvey and i see that the management of this course is taking the condition of the course seriously and working hard to make it a very nice course.
The greens were mushy but they ran true and were clean.
The traps were very well maintained and the leaves were blown off the course.
The only big issue is having to skip around during play due to a bridge being down but i saw costruction was almost complete.
Still a favorite course
Course was wet from heavy rains. Clubhouse being repaired from Harvey. Overall, a good track, good value with friendly staff. Grille needs to be reopened! Will play again.
Always good to play here
I love this coarse, it is always clean with friendly staff. They are almost through with the bridge repairs. Looking forward to next visit.
No Rain Check
We arrived around 11:30 am. It started raining when we finished the first hole. We waited for rain to stop and around 12:45 decided there is no sense to wait anymore. Called GolfNow and asked for reimbursement. They said they called Red Wolf and Red Wolf employee said it rained for only 20 min and that was not reason stop playing so there is no reason to reimburse me.
I feel cheated. I am going to play there again unless forecast is 0 % for precipitation.
back on track
Kudos to the course management. Harvey took out a bridge after the 8th hole.So we started on the 10th. Then at the turn we did hole 9 then 1 through 8. The detour caused a slight delay, but was not bad.All greens in great condition. Thank God for cart person because grill is not up and running yet.
Good course for the money
Course is recovering well from the hurricane, looking forward to when the bridges are repaired and flow returns to normal. Overall a great value and pace of play is always good
