Red Wolf Golf Resort
About
There's no doubt Red Wolf Golf Resort is a Texas-themed facility, complete with holes named after the Harrington's bulls (they are providers of bulls for professional rodeos) and a Southwestern-styled clubhouse. As for the golf course, Jay Riviere's design has always been considered a fine layout. Take advantage of the easier front nine by scoring well on the opening holes. No. 9 is the most difficult hole on the course. It shoots through a narrow opening uphill into the sloped fairway. This one is mean -- it was formerly a par 5 -- and requires a long approach over a lake.

Doesn’t look bad in the picture but it is. Luckily there’s been a lot of rain. Give it a couple of weeks in this heat it will all be brown. Photo submitted by u480307563 on 08/06/2024

dog
I miss that black dog that would always be hanging out at the clubhouse. I miss seeing him strolling down the cart paths like he owned the place
Successfully recovering from Harvey
The golf course was completely inundated during the Harvey so the golf amenities are still in the repair mode. The course is, however, well playable and a great value for the money. Greens were surprisingly fast and in great condition.
Nice layout with great potential
I have played other courses that were impacted by Harvey and i see that the management of this course is taking the condition of the course seriously and working hard to make it a very nice course.
The greens were mushy but they ran true and were clean.
The traps were very well maintained and the leaves were blown off the course.
The only big issue is having to skip around during play due to a bridge being down but i saw costruction was almost complete.
Still a favorite course
Course was wet from heavy rains. Clubhouse being repaired from Harvey. Overall, a good track, good value with friendly staff. Grille needs to be reopened! Will play again.
Always good to play here
I love this coarse, it is always clean with friendly staff. They are almost through with the bridge repairs. Looking forward to next visit.
No Rain Check
We arrived around 11:30 am. It started raining when we finished the first hole. We waited for rain to stop and around 12:45 decided there is no sense to wait anymore. Called GolfNow and asked for reimbursement. They said they called Red Wolf and Red Wolf employee said it rained for only 20 min and that was not reason stop playing so there is no reason to reimburse me.
I feel cheated. I am going to play there again unless forecast is 0 % for precipitation.
back on track
Kudos to the course management. Harvey took out a bridge after the 8th hole.So we started on the 10th. Then at the turn we did hole 9 then 1 through 8. The detour caused a slight delay, but was not bad.All greens in great condition. Thank God for cart person because grill is not up and running yet.
Good course for the money
Course is recovering well from the hurricane, looking forward to when the bridges are repaired and flow returns to normal. Overall a great value and pace of play is always good
Enjoyable but still needs work
The course is recovering from Harvey. A couple of bridges were wiped out thus the sequence of holes was changed. The greens were ok with most in pretty good shape. Bunkers were great and actually had sand. The clubhouse was in recovery mode as well. No drink cart nor was the snack bar open. Carts were also some of the dirtiest I've seen. Spider webs and caked on dirt in the seats.
Great course
Although there is some damage from the hurricane to the bridges the course itself is back to normal. Good challenging course. A great place to play.
solid
I 've been comming here for the passed two years and have never been disappointed. It is quite a ride from the woodlands, but well worth it. Good job keeping up with the golfcourse inspite of the scorching weather
LOVE THE PEACE AND QUIET !
Great Staff, excellent layout and challenging holes. If one pars #9 , they have some game !
Almost four stars!
Redwolf is a pretty cool golf course with some challenging hole layouts. The fairways, greens, and bunkers were maintained fairly well; however, the rough was a severe penalty. Grass was thick and almost up to the knees in places. Oh this isn't a links course either, so...
I liked the course, but I can keep it fairly straight and have distance. If you're a player that can't reach 200 yards off the tee, there is a hole that you will sink into the water. If you're a spray and pray type of player, you will become the struggle bus holding up the group constantly trying to find your ball (bring some extras).
Anyway, get out there and play it, I liked it, but I think I will grab some rounds that are close to me (Newport).
Red Wolf Golf Course
great tract-fairways were generous, rough was challenging. Make sure you play the appropriate tee's some forced carries that are difficult if you are not a longer hitter.
Good course, for your dollar.
Course in good shape. Big greens are smooth, but sponges. Grille is closed, no food. Big disappointment. Overall good place to play for the price.
Nice course
Hot day in Texas, but the golf was still fun. The course was well maintained, you need to find the fairway because the rough was the real thing. Challenging course, yet possible to have decent score. Enjoyed the day
