Red Wolf Golf Resort
About
There's no doubt Red Wolf Golf Resort is a Texas-themed facility, complete with holes named after the Harrington's bulls (they are providers of bulls for professional rodeos) and a Southwestern-styled clubhouse. As for the golf course, Jay Riviere's design has always been considered a fine layout. Take advantage of the easier front nine by scoring well on the opening holes. No. 9 is the most difficult hole on the course. It shoots through a narrow opening uphill into the sloped fairway. This one is mean -- it was formerly a par 5 -- and requires a long approach over a lake.

Doesn’t look bad in the picture but it is. Luckily there’s been a lot of rain. Give it a couple of weeks in this heat it will all be brown. Photo submitted by u480307563 on 08/06/2024

Course trying!
Course was not in good shape. Staff was nice. Pace was good until we caught up wth a five-some.
This is a sign of weakness on owner/ mgmt. letting the members dictate policy . At least I hope it was members..
Greens were substandard relativel to other courses I’ve played.
I wish the course well post Harvey flooding.
It’s a nice layout!
Messed up
I was very surprised at the conditions of the course. They were in the process of punching the tee boxes and fairways. The plugs were all over the fairways that had been punched. The greens had not been cut and the greens were extremely slow and bumpy. Just really disappointed overall
Good place for a quickie.
Monday 1pm tee time. Went off solo and only ran into a threesome on 12. Greens and sand in good shape. Fairways were okay. The layout is great for Houston area courses which are usually flat and boring. There's several elevated tees and forced water carries which make it memorable. Nice doglegs as well. 9 needs to be a par 5.
Satisfying Sunday
Recovered from the flood and just plain hard to beat this club.
Nice staff
The check in fellow was very accommodating. The price drove me to play here not knowing that it was very far for me. Not from the area. I realize that I had played there before. The only negative comment. No grill, no beer,
Good value course
Good value course. All bridges repaired. Greens are punched, fertilized. Roll smooth. Fairways a little thin. Should be great in a couple of weeks. Love the layout. No grille available, disappointment. Will continue to play it.
Course was in pretty good shape. Got a great deal on Golfnow. Got stuck behind a twosome on the 2nd hole who wouldnt let me play thru until the 10th, even though it was just me. Still played in 3.5 hours. Always loved this course and always will. Hope the snackbar opens soon.
Nice course and getting better
I enjoy playing this course as it gets closer to spring it shaping up nicely.
The greans are mushy with all the rain but run true.
Great Southeast Texas Golf Course
I had a great experience playing Red Wolf. My first round here was a winter day, the turf was wet, though my drives still carried well. The greens were easy to hit and spin back. If you like variety, i.e., course layout, shot making on at least 9 of the holes, the other half a piece of cake, you'll enjoy Red Wolf.
*Suggestion - Open your Maps app before you go and you can fly over the course to get the layout. It's really a beautiful ever green course, even in the winter.
Great course
I always enjoy playing here, it is always a challenge and now that the bridges are all fixed it is easy to move about. Looking forward to when the grill reopens
Greens drain poorly
There was a good rain during the early morning hours. The fairways and bunker did well draining the water, however, the greens were like a sponge. Every step in the greens left footprints of what seemed to be at least .5 inch deep. This made putting impossible and every approach shot from greater than 50 yds left the ball plugged in the green.
Poorly built greens.
Great golf
Great golf, fun and challenging. The staff is friendly and helpful would recommend this course to anyone! The greens are in great shape despite the snow and ice this winter, not to mention the deviation from the hurricane. They lost bridges and have built them back already and are quickly getting the club house back in order. Good time!
Great value
I’ve played this course many times over the years...after a brief (25yr) layoff I found myself playing this course 3 times in the last 2 weeks. The course overall is in great shape, the greens have been reall soft, so lots of divots (REPAIR YOUR DIVOTS) but rolling relatively well. The bridge is still out between 8 and 9 so you play 10-18 then 9 to 1-8 so there is a bit of a drive back in...not a big deal. Small practice green area is nice to work on, driving range is basically sand, so ok to get loosened up, but not much else. Staff is great, atmosphere is great, will be back often!
