Hanover Golf Club

Extremely disappointed with the conditions of Hanover Golf club. Started with the driving range, way overgrown unmown made it tough to practice well. Putting green was extraordinarily slow and we thought that the course greens would be better, they were not. Very overgrown slow and bumpy. # 8 had a temporary green. The bunkers need some serious work. Now to the worst part, the rough was so overgrown and thick that 90% of shots were basically unplayable. US open rough would pale in comparison to the mess we were trying to play out of. It does not make for a pleasant round when you spend half your time looking for your ball or those of your group rather than playing golf. Found a heck of a lot of balls that were not ours. The course had made a nice comeback and am sorry to see maintenance has been backsliding so badly.

The rough along the fairways and around the greens were high, which made it extremely difficult to find the ball. The greens were very slow because they were not trimmed and smoothed out. Some of the greens had patches of bad spots.

I would recommend this course to anyone...a very unique course. On the backside of a neighborhood and has a few holes that are like no other in the Richmond area. + the weather was perfect...All-In-All we had a great day and have been telling folks about it since we played.

Course was more challenging than usual given the recent aeration of the greens AND the height of the rough. The rough was a real struggle. I couldn't find a couple of balls due to the length. And when I was lucky enough to find one, it was nearly impossible to get it out of there.

I do believe that this is all a result of the recent weather but it sure made for a tougher than usual round. Still, a wonderful day and a nice course.

My buddies and I booked a threesome for an early morning tee time a week in advance. When we arrived and paid for our round we were informed the course had assigned us a random single player. There was no “oh hey by the way do you mind if a single joins y’all?” It was “we assigned a single to y’all have a nice day”. We’re not the best golfers so our biggest fear was just having some great golfer shooting with a bunch of terrible ones haha.

The course itself is a pretty one. It’s a little narrow but also has a couple pretty wide holes as well. Most of the course was pretty well groomed. I think our biggest gripe was just having a hard time finding our balls in the rough. We clearly could see the ball hit the fairway and bounce out just a little. It could still take us a couple minutes to find the ball hidden away in the tall rough.

Unexpectedly there were a couple holes that had some elevation change to them. Didn’t expect that out in Ashland but it created a nice change up throughout the course.

If I lived in Ashland I would belong to this course!

We’ve been playing here all year & the conditions of the tee boxes, fairways, & greens have been really good until today. It’s been close to 3 weeks since we were out here and I’m guessing the heat & humidity over the last few weeks finally have taken their toll on the greens. I’m not sure they’ll get them back anytime soon.

I have three favorite courses in the Richmond area, Royal New Kent, Magnolia green, and Hanover Country Club! Yes, Hanover Country Club is in the same category as those other two amazing courses so go out and play it and see for yourself!

The fairways and greens are in good condition despite the het and lack of rain in the Richmond

Staff is awful and treat people like crap the tee boxes are in rough shape the greens roll different speeds and are bumpy and shaggy fairway are trash bunkers are hard your 40-50 dollars is better off at so many different courses staff is just horrendous

It was hot! 90 degrees so the course was not crowded in the middle of the day. Course is in good shape. Greens are good but the fairways are not in the best shape. Definitely a challenging course from the tips. Well priced and I will be playing again.

Beautiful course and extremely courteous employees! If I were to get a membership anywhere in this whole entire area this is where it would be! In fact I might!!

Great course the elevation changes were great. Greens are great I liked the course played whites as recommended.
