Par Three at Windy Hill Golf Course

You would think that this would not be that difficult or fun since it's at a sports complex but Windy Hill is one of the most interesting layouts in the area! Not to mention that the staff is great!!

I have always given this course 5 stars just because I love the course! This time though, Windy Hill really was 5 stars! The fairways are in good shape, and the greens are in great shape, which enabled me to shoot the best 18-hole score of my life... -4 !! **** The new management has done an amazing job, making things better! (Even if the new owner is a Dallas Cowgirls fan!!!)

Today I walked and played 9 holes on the par 3 course for the first time. The tee boxes were in ok condition and they included a mat. The walking paths from green to tee box are a bit rough but ok. The greens and approach areas are in very good condition and the greens every bit as good as any in the Richmond area. . I played in the morning and they were damp from watering. I recommend walking the course and carrying a lite bag with 3-4 clubs and a putter that’s all you need for fun and some exercise.

First time. I booked on golf now a week in advance and they couldn’t find my reservation. They had a spot open and let us play. The course was overall good for the price but was disappointed that we had to skip over many of the greens because they were swarmed with hornets at a majority of the greens.

I have been coming here for a long while. The new owners must be putting money to improve the condition of the course. It has never looked better.

I showed up to the course in my hot weather shoes, considering it was 90 and no calls for rain. On the first hole I quickly noticed how entirely SOAKED the greens and fairways were and proceeded to curse the course for destroying my shoes one step onto the fairway. I can understand some areas collecting more water than some but this was acceptable. On top of this, the greens keeper was absolutely DRENCHING the greens as I was about to Tee off. This happened on 4 holes. EVERY single green was almost unplayable due to standing water.

I can understand watering your greens in the morning, but do it before people tee off, its not worth peoples time or money if the ball stops rolling halfway to the hole or changes direction en route.

On top of this the Tee boxes were atrocious. I noticed mats on all of them and thought that was weird, it wasn't until later in the round I stood on one because the rest of the tee box was trashed. Standing on the mat was even more difficult because it was impossible to stand firmly on the ground, it being a mat on top of chopped up dirt.

Relieved I only paid $10 for 18. I think its an absolute crime they charge $50 for 18 on the regular.

Do I recommend: NO

Yes: to beginners or people learning the game

No: Golfers looking to play a round without the course conditions playing a major role in their score

There was absolutely no reason why they had it cart path only!!! I get that they are trying to make the course nicer but at least rotate holes for cart path only!

I have been playing Windy Hill for many years even as a 3 handicap because it's fun! What is it fun is how horrible the fairways are right now! I really hope that the new ownership puts some effort into fixing these because this is a great course and I am still recommending it!

Although the greens are still pretty great, the tees are terrible and the Fairway was worse than I've seen in months. I have been told that there is new ownership so that things will be getting better. I hope so!!

Perfect course for the short game. No major or minor complaints. Just bring your A game.

Had a blast! The course is well maintained and challenging! The staff was incredibly helpful and polite! We will be coming back!

For my first time playing the Lake Course, I was impressed. I really enjoyed the layout and for the price it was great. However I struggled a bit on my drives because the fairways are a bit narrow. Other than that, there is a good variety of hole lengths and dogwoods and whatnot. The staff was incredibly helpful and when my buddy’s driver head flew off on the driving, they retrieved it and gave advice on repairing the club.
