The Hollows Golf Club - Lake/Road
About
Hollows Golf Club is situated in historic Hanover County, birthplace of Patrick Henry. The club boasts 27 holes of championship golf that are considered the best value in the area since the greens fess are good for the whole day, allowing you to try every hole if you wanted to. The holes are divided into three nines: Cottage, Lake, and Road, that are played in three different 18-hole combinations. The unique layouts of all three offer enough variety to appeal to players of all skill levels. The Lake/Road combination naturally features plenty of water on the front nine. The Lake nine is routed around a large lake as well as a few small ponds. The back nine, Road, is the longest of the three nines, but only by about 100 yards. There is no water but there are some tricky doglegs and strategically placed bunkers.

Fun course
Enjoyed the course. Good scenery and was kept in pretty good condition. Carts have GPS which is a nice feature.
The couse has great featurres
course not in the best of shape.......Green needs work and fair ways.
Yanks fan
Great course. 27 holes so they started us on an open nine and crossed over to second nine. As a twosome, we finished in less than 3 hrs. Greens were aerated but have to expect that this time of year anywhere. Conditions around greens will improve as grass starts to grow. Playing again today!
A fair challenge.
The tee boxes have been set up to offer the high handicapper a "safer" route to the hole while allowing the low handicapper to go for a risk/reward shot.
Fun course but really wet from rain over the past few days.
The course had water standing in many places and it was cart path only. As a first timer I got into trouble by not knowing the layout but had a lot of fun trying to recover from those mistakes. The greens were slow but true and the fairways were soft. I know I lost 2 balls because they were plugged and I couldn't find them. I played the Lake and the Road courses and would like to go back in dry weather to try these courses again.
Great value great atmosphere without pretentiousness of comparable courses
Course offers challenging sets of nine holes (although I've only played Lake and Cottage the four times I've played the course). Staff very cordial at check in and I appreciate the ability to wear denim in the cold ( I haven't but have seen others so I assume its ok). I would consider membership if price ok.
Very nice course for the money
Course is well maintained. Having three nine hole courses helps disperse play nicely. Staff is very pleasant, and food at Knickers is delicious. I play at this course a few times a month and I'm considering joining in the spring
Long Drive to get there and was not worth it.
Staff was friendly but I just did not like the course. People all over each other because holes are close to each other. If I lived closer perhaps I would play again but since it is over an hour from my house, it is just not worth it.
Pretty good for the money.
The 2 guys running the cart stand and the pro shop desk didn't know what the were doing! It took us a good 15min to get my partner a cart, they kept sending him back & forth. They were not very nice on top of not knowing what they were doing!!! I have never had any issues like this. Usually the help is very nice and gets you set up & on your way quickly. I was unhappy with the service to say the least... I'll probably go to the "Royal Virginian" instead of the "Hollows" next time.. They seemed irritated at the fact that we came through "Golf Now "!!
Course in the best shape I've seen.
Fairways overseeded, greens smooth and fast, sand traps with good sand and raked, people friendly. Great value..play golf
Relaxed atmosphere and solid course.
Course is well-maintained. GPS on carts is great! The clubhouse could use a little work. For instance, it would be nice to have a functional water fountain. Also, some drinking water out on the course would be a nice bonus.
Great course
I love playing here. convinient from my work and home.
I've always enjoyed playing at the Hollows
I have played at the Hollows for several years now. I have some great memories there.
Awesome course for the money and the location is nice
Great course. Out in the country. Has challenge but not enough to make you hate it. My favorite course to play
This course is maintained well
The course is maintained well and has a very friendly starter.
I found the GPS system on the cart to be of great value in determining distances to the pin.
Great value, cool course
Me and my buddies enjoyed playing out here. It was well maintained and the greens were true and fast.
Excellent Greens
I gave the course a 3 because of a couple of things. very difficult to navigate the course, not good directions to the next hole. the fairways were a little rough as well. The greens were EXCELLENT! true reads and speedy even though they looked thick. there are three 9-hole tracks. we only got to play two because they were aerating one of the tracks. replay rate is only $8. great deal on golfnow - $20. no snacks that i saw but i will definitely play again.
Beautiful course in good condition.
This course is very nice. I first played this course 15 years ago and haven't been back since, primarily because it is further away from home than other courses. The course is picturesque and well maintained. Although I played terribly, it is an easy course. This course has moved to my top three in the Richmond, VA, area.
Good deal for the money
Not sure the course is worth $40, the normal price. Greens need some work. Course is tight. Holes too close. Had to wait a couple tim es for the group to tee off the next hole before completing our hole.
Great course, super friendly staff
We grabbed the "Hot Deal" for a mid day round on a Tuesday. The staff in the pro shop were very friendly.
We played "Cottage" and "Lakes" both were in great shape. It was my first time playing "Cottage" and we enjoyed it.
I like the golf carts with the GPS, it certainly helped with club selection.
Seaview Stay & Play Golf Package
You've obviously never played a really good course. Check out the Federal Club nearby. It's a 20 star if you consider Hollows 5
