Victoria Golf Course

About
The Links at Victoria Golf Course has a convenient location in Carson that is easily accessible from the South Bay, downtown Los Angeles, or Orange County. William Bell, the mastermind who crafted the Torrey Pines courses, also designed the Links at Victoria. The course has a traditional design that features wide, gently undulating fairways and large, well manicured greens. It's not an overly challenging course but there are some holes that will make you think and you'll find that accuracy and a good strategy are both generously rewarded. The wide-openness of the front nine provides a gentle start to the golf course while the tighter back mine presents greater challenges. It's a good round for learning beginners and more advanced golfers will find it to be a fun, quick round for an affordable price.

Victoria is Getting There
It won’t be long before Victoria becomes one of those wonderful places to play. Everybody will talk about the lack of grass on some of the fairways. But the tees and greens were lush. Many of the Fairways were almost 100% and there’s a feeling that this courses on its way to a new beginning. I don’t wanna tell you because I don’t want you to go there, but this is a really special place that I love to play.
The worst course I've ever played
If you just want to kit some balls and you don't care about grass, then this is the course for you. I'm not exaggerating when I say that 60-70% of the fairways were simply dirt and mud. The course was full of players who have now concept of golf etiquette (driving their carts up to the actual green, four players each with their own carts, players hitting 3-4 balls on each hole). I had to play through on two separate holes because of extremely slow play (and I should add that the course was practically empty, it was just slooooow play).
Such a shame...
I heard terrible things about the course but it's architect (William Bell) drew me in. I walked the course paying the weekday/senior rate. Unfortunately, the absolute disregard by the City of Carson is astounding. Too bad because the layout is potentially great. The golf course needs a superintendent and grounds crew that have some leeway to make necessary improvements but I'm sure the city could care less. It's a potential gold mine if focus is applied properly. Rebuild the clubhouse and host weddings and corporate events. It's Los Angeles for God's sake!! I'm sure irrigation lines need to be reinstalled and the course needs reseeding and bunker work but it WILL PAY DIVIDENDS despite the pocket-lining opinions of city council...
Worst course I have ever played
Literally, there was no grass in the fairways. You basically hit down a dirt path and tried to find a patch of grass to hit a second shot in from. Around the greens were well entertained and overall for 33 bucks. I guess it was Golf. Definitely would not return The worst course I’ve ever played as the description said.
Terrible
Absolutely terrible. Just keep your money in your pocket. They could make this course free to play and it still wouldn’t be worth it.

Disappointed
I prepayed for power golf cart but they don't have a cart enough we wait over one hour still we don't get a cart. So we walked with payed the cart fee. Disappointed.

We apologize for the inconvenience you experienced with the power golf cart availability. We appreciate you bringing this to our attention and we will work to improve the situation. Thank you for leaving your review.
Course is garbage
Don't waste your money. There is NO grass on the fairways. None. It's all mud and rocks. greens and around the green is ok. But there is NO grass in the fairway, it's hard-packed dirt.
Makes Alondra seem like Pebble Beach
OK I have to say first of all… It’s kind of like playing on the moon. Quite possibly the most barren landscape you’ll ever see for a fairway. It’s pretty much all dirt with sporadic patches of grass. Driving a golf cart across It has to be the most kidney jarring experience ever. Having said that The tee boxes are well-kept with grass and the greens are actually really nice. The staff was super helpful and even kind of apologetic about the fairways. There’s a lot of rumors about why the fairways are in such horrible shape. The one thing I will say is it was an enjoyable, layout, and absolutely no problem with slow pace of play . In fact, I joined up with a single woman there, and we had the nicest time with nobody in front of us or behind us. All in all I have to say is pretty good experience, except for the fact that you kind a need to lift and place your ball onto a patch of grass whenever you hit it.

Hello, u00000761456. Thank you for visiting us at The Links at Victoria Golf Course. We appreciate your 4-star rating and review. We hope you join us for another round soon.
Needs TLC
It has been years since I last played there. Friends told me of the poor conditions but I desperately wanted a practice round prior to a tournament and that was the only course with decent tee times. The first hole didn't have much of a fairway and at noon, there was still so much mud which made it difficult to get a decent stroke. Most of the holes were lacking grass but more so on the front nine than the back nine. The greens, however, were great!!!

Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. We apologize for the poor conditions you experienced during your round and we appreciate your feedback. We are glad to hear that you found the greens to be in great condition.
Solution to sod issues
If the golf course would close off one hole at a time and fix it. I believe that would improve the conditions of the course I personally would not mind skipping one whole just to see this place more green and beautiful.

Hello, santdogg. Thank you for visiting us at The Links at Victoria Golf Course. We appreciate your 4-star rating and review. We hope you join us for another round soon.
Waiting to be torn down.
The recent history of the course is well documented. It’s going through a slow death. Unfortunate the county is letting golf go by the wayside. One way to improve the situation is to simply spray paint markings on the cart path to hundred 150 200 yards from green
Good course just need more attention
Green are in good shape! Fair way not so well, very challenging when there is barely any grass.
