Golfer Reviews
Short Course but a Lot of Fun
This course is on the shorter side but has a lot of character that makes it fun to play. I will definitely be coming back.
City Vourse
Very nice course. Challenging in many respects. Definitely worth your time.
Great little course.
This is a great track and they are doing a great job at making it better each year. It’s history makes it a cool place to play. Lots of hills, some fun short par 3’s and the staff is superb!
Average
The experience with the staff is good and the rate of play is nice but some greens are damaged there are some ruts in the fairways that your ball will get stuck in the grass in the lead up to the greens is very I evenly trimmed.
nice course has great contours.
First time playing there. Took my 84 year old father with me. Had a great time. Will go back again this year.
Hello, thank you for taking the time to leave us a review. We are sorry to see that your overall experience was anything short of 5 stars, but we hope you'll give Ottawa Park Golf Course another try in the near future.
Super short but super fun
Although this is a very short course it is one of the more fun courses to play in the area. Hills and trees everywhere will make you think about all shots. This could be a really nice course if the people in charge of running it would just take care of it. Bunkers are not sand but hard dried up dirt. Greens have dead spots. Grass randomly not cut all over the place. Like I said love the character of this place but they need to take a little pride in the place.
Nice track
Challenging course for how short it plays. Tight fairways and plenty of trees to hit. There are a couple driveable par 4s if you can keep it straight off the tee. Overall fun course to play.
Beautiful course!!
We have golfed this course several times. And as always it's beautiful! Take the time to think about it being built in 1899.
Short
The course is pretty short, but very enjoyable to play. Doesn't handle rain water very well so if has rained in the passed 2 days or so expect some backsplash from iron shots. Greens are a touch slow, fairways are nice, and the rough is thick. Play in the evenings to enjoy the wildlife.
Classic old municipal course....
for a chance to play a classic 1899 course with character and challenges on every hole come to OP designed by SP Jermain and visit the bronze statue/sundial memorial near the clubhouse.
Fun course
I always enjoy this course. It has elevation changes on many holes. It is a short, target shoot type of a course, which is different from what I normally play. It makes it enjoyable to go for it with risk, or lay up with Precision shots to ensure a par with A good look at birdie. Course was in good shape. Greens were on the slow side but the ball rolled smoothly.
Nostalgic visit to Ottawa Park GC
I used to play Ottawa Park growing up, and it had been 30+ years since I played there. OPGC is short but it has plenty of trees to challenge you on the driveable par 4's. The par-5 4th is a favorite: reachable in 2 with perfect shots to a semi-blind green, or bail out to a narrow layup area on the left. The 3 finishing holes are all challenging, especially #18 from the tips. On the downside, several of the fairways had pretty thin turf, possibly recovering from flood damage. Our twosome played 18 in 3 hours on a Saturday afternoon, very light traffic on the course. The course is very walkable and a great place to take a beginner. All in all, my return visit was well worth it, and I won't wait another 30 years to go back!
Return to the birth place
I first played this course 60 years ago and mowed its greens in summers while in college. A short masterpiece of design on woody terrain. It started my career in Turfgrass. A joy to revisit with an old friend.
Love the course
A few holes are not cleaned up yet but its early in the season. Still one of my favorite toledo courses.
Great course, especially for young players
Ottawa Park is one of my favorites, and it rarely disappoints. The course is exciting, the greens are nice, and the par 3's make you wish for a hole-in-one every time. I used to play here all the time in high school and it really helped me develop a strong game. Since then, I have played it numerous times every season and it is just downright fun. Highly recommended to players of all skill levels.
Always a great course
Ottawa Park is one of my favorite courses in the Toledo area. It is a fun course with elevated tees and greens, some challenging holes with hills, but also some wide open holes where you can grip it and rip it!
Nice Muni course.
Nice Municipal course. Nothing more or less. Had not played here in a while. For time of year it was in decent shape. Very short course. Only slightly longer than 5000 yards. Play early to avoid longer rounds.
Played the course yesterday. Horribly overbooked. Took my wife and I 5+ hours to play. What a joke. Poor management and conditions. I use to play it as a kid and like to play it once a year for nostalgia even though I now live an hour away. And to top if off some old guy playing in the foursome ahead of us left with is group to go to the clubhouse after nine. So my wife and I move up to prepare to tee off on #10. But a few minutes later the old guy comes blasting up, says "sorry" and tees up to hit. I kept my cool but obviously this jerk doesn't have any golf or social etiquette. Not sure I will be back to play what could be a quality course.
