About
South Riding Golf Club is nestled in the gentle hills of northern Virginia, enjoying a landscape of hardwood forests and grassy meadows. The course offers a variety of challenges but the fairways are wide and player-friendly and the greens can be tough in spots but overall they offer some room for error. The layout requires both strategy and skill, it is definitely not a golf course where you will be able to just "grip and rip it." The course pinpoints your weaknesses but it is still a fair test. South Riding Golf Club's eighth hole is memorable for its difficulty but it's an interesting hole sine there are many ways to play it. At 351 yards, the hole is a short but intimidating dogleg left that will tempt you to go over the trees. The fairway is generous but the saddle-shaped green is flanked with bunkers.

Country club price point is outrageous for community golf course
Good community course, good conditions, nice greens. Nice range, new carts, thick rough. Little pricey 💰 🏌⛳️
good course. but...
SRGC is a great course with a fun and challenging layout, scenic holes, and friendly staff.
the "BUT" part is...i got a GN deal for $81, on the weekends they will bilk you for $130, which is ridiculously over-priced...
also, while the course is in great shape, putting the hole on a slope when you have the greens rolling super fast is just unnecessarily punitive
i will still play here, but i will certainly keep an eye on the cost...they have basically doubled the price since COVID...
Value
$90 for a weekday tee time at this course is a bit much. For that kind of money you would expect the rough to be mowed better, cart pathways to be paved properly, and a beverage cart. I understand we have had a lot of rain lately but the amount of pot holes along the cart paths is ridiculous. Also, for $90 you would expect to have a beverage cart at some point but there was not one.
25 Years at South Riding GC
I have played South Riding dozens of times since I was a duffer as a new golfer 25 years ago. I enjoyed it then when I could barely break 100 and still do now when I can score, like yesterday, in the 70s. The layout is varied and challenging, although unlike many northern Virginia golf courses, there are only a very few forced carries over waste areas or water. Conditions are generally very good, especially the greens, and the practice facilities are absolutely superb. South Riding compares favorably to courses like Westfields, Bull Run, Stonewall and Blue Mash, but is hardly ever crowded, far far easier to reserve teetimes in advance and considerably less expensive.
In short, highly recommended. If you can get there in the next few weeks, that is, early to mid-May 2025, you will most definitely have a very enjoyable day, because the course is in stellar shape.
Course Hole-to-Hole Direction
During the 18 holes, accurate guidance signs are needed at intervals between holes to help you move from one hole to the next hole.
Fast Greens
Course was in great shape and the greens were very fast. We had fun and will be back!
