Hobbs Hole Golf Course

I absolutely love this course. It was only my second time there but they all remembered me. I'm always treated as if I'm a member. The fairways and greens are in excellent condition. The may flies are starting to come out but aren't too bad currently. Relaxing wide open course that still gives some challenges.

What a nice surprise. The course is a very well maintained. High end feel without the pretentiousness, Putting on bent grass is absolutely the best.

Hobbs hole is my favorite golf course. Links feel with some tree lined holes. Greens were in great shape, a bit speedy, but rolled very true. Loves this place.

If I lived closer, I'd be a member. This course is so much fun to play. Some holes are very golfer friendly, while others challenge your shot-making skills. Overall, a great course for beginners, as well as mid-to-low handicap players. Greens are in great shape and getting better. Just need a little more greening/growth in the fairways. This course is always in great shape and that is what keeps me driving 1 1/2 hours to play there. Staff is friendly and the restaurant is better than most. Hope to get 6-8 rounds in there before fall. Highly recommend this course.

Imagine driving 2 hours to this course for your confirmed tee time, only to have the PGA pro tell you upon arrival, “We have a tournament today. There was a mistake, you shouldn’t have been able to make a tee time.”

We were so excited to have cousins golf weekend, and instead the new Hobbes pro (a month into his tenure) canceled our tee time in our face (a tee time I booked through the course website a week in advance), and still had the audacity to offer us “half off” the next day for wasting a day of our lives.

This pro was so arrogant and pompous about the whole thing, taking no responsibility. He wouldn’t even let us use the range. I feel sorry that this great facility will likely be ruined over time by an incompetent fool.

If you ever plan on playing here, call in advance to triple check (I even received a confirmation email 24 hours in advance of my time).

1st surprise was how busy Hobbs was on Tuesday. Range was on the very good mats but hopefully soon back on grass. Practice green in great shape. 1,2 and 3 were CPO as they had a few wet areas. Fairways were surprisingly thin as was some of the light rough around greens. Bunkers need some work, most were unraked which made them inconsistent and much tougher to control shots. Greens were rolling well, fast but not overly speedy. The splotchy colors made a bit more difficult to read but still rolled well. Somewhat slow as the round was over 4 hrs. We stopped in after for the great food and drink and the wonderful folk who work there. With some grass growth and bunker attention, Hobbs will be back to its normal excellent self.

Made the drive from Stafford, and Bowling Green, with my playng partner and returned to our favored course after a 5-6 week layoff (and, it showed). Weather was sunny, windy and 43 degrees. Bundled up, we proceeded to play 18 in just over 3 hours. Course was busy, but not crowded. Fairways and rough still dormant and traps were kinda wet, but playable. Lots of tight lies on the fairway. Greens were firm, but rolled nicely. Always a fun experience. Can't wait for the course to green up and play in the superior conditions it is capable of. Troy and staff always make you feel welcome. Will return often

Been playing Hobbs for years and never been disappointed from the time I arrive from the time I leave.

My playing partner and I manage to get to play Hobbs Hole 3-5 times a year. We look forward to it. The course is always in great shape. Today, the greens were immaculate and rolling fast. The fairways and tee boxes are going dormant, but were extremely playable. This course may be one of the best "off-season" courses in this area. And, Troy and his staff are always available to make your golfing experience the best it can possibly be. I highly recommend this course.

Course was in great shape. We were able to actually insert tees into the ground at the tee boxes with very very little pressure at all 18 holes. We've never experienced that before. Greens were in great shape as were the fairways, Quite a few sand traps (and I found a few) but not many other hazards at all. Nice wide fairways with not a lot of trees so it would be difficult to lose balls. This is a course we will play again if we make it back this way in our travels.

Hobbs Hole continues to be a wonderful golf course. Greens were in great shape. I would have liked them a bit faster but they were very nice. Fairways were full and carpet like. Bunkers need a little work and golfers need to rake after themselves. Pace got really slow over the last 4-5 holes, painfully. Bar and restaurant never fail to provide good service and food. BBQ , tots and a beer provided a fitting end to the day. Good practice facility. A place worth the drive.
