About
EagleSticks Golf Club tumbles across gently rolling farmland situated just outside of Zanesville. The constant up-and-down characterizes the course from the rolling fairways to the undulating greens. The total elevation changes amount to more than 100 feet. The hilly terrain is adorned with pristine forests of oak, maple, ash, oak, and walnut trees. Cascading waterfalls can be found throughout the golf course as well. There are scenic views everywhere but don't let that distract you, the challenging layout requires your full attention. There are 90 bunkers strategically situated along the fairways and greens. It's not particularly long at 6,500 yards from the back tees, it's a golf course that instead favors accuracy over power. The par-5 11th is EagleSticks Golf Club's signature hole. Starting with a daunting downhill plunge, there is a creek that splits the fairway and a stream that runs alongside the left approaching the green.

Golfer Reviews
Challenging But Fair
I played the course this spring for three days, April 24-26. It is coming along nicely. Each day I could see improvements. The greens were aerated a bit ago and have healed nicely. Smooth rolling putts. Getting faster by the day.
Of course, the main characteristic of this course is the rough. This makes a shorter track show it's teeth. A number of times I had to be right on top of the ball to find it. But that is good. Hit a fairway shot and you'll be rewarded. In the rough and you pay the penalty. That is golf as it should be.
The course is pretty much played in front of you, not really any dogleg holes. You'll be playing sidehill and downhill lies, which will certainly test your game. It is a course that causes you to think your way around the holes in order to put you in the best position to attack the pin. Some holes don't need a driver off the tee. Play to position.
It was nice to see the course superintendent and his crew out on the course working on improvements.
The staff of Tyler and Kelly are both great at handling all your questions with a smile and excellent hospitality.
Spring golf in Ohio is good golf. EagleSticks is a nice track to play. It is a challenging but fair course.
Great Experience for early season golf!
Played first round of the season today. Really enjoyed the experience and course. For all the rain we've had the course is draining great. Greens were running true and are coming in nicely. When the growing season kicks into high gear the course will continue to round into shape. As always, the staff was fantastic. I can't wait to come back and play in a couple of weeks. I love testing my game at Eaglesticks. Thanks for a great day.
Worse shape ever
I was completely ashamed of how the course looked. This was definitely the worse it has ever been in. Not sure why but in the past, the course was always in magnificent shape but they now have a lot of work to do to possibly get it back.
I appreciate you playing our course. I appreciate the feedback that we get from platforms such as GolfAdvisor. We celebrate the great reviews we get, and we learn from the less favorable. I have always told my staff we would rather be saved by criticism than be ruined by praise. We will learn from your review as well.
I would ask that readers of your review take note of just a few things:
1. You played our course on March 25th and we are in Central Ohio. We recently aerified our greens, we have two of our teeing grounds under construction (recently expanded to give more available space). We have not started mowing fairways or maintaining bunkers due to wet conditions. I would like to assure readers that in less than two weeks we will start to show signs of summer conditions. As you know, most courses charge spring and summer rates to reflect course conditions and maintenance practices. That is why you paid a spring rate on the 25th.
2. Nothing about my comments are in anger or disrespect, just asking that when rating other courses in the future, please understand that courses do not operate in a vacuum and therefor might fluctuate based on season and weather conditions.
3. If you look at EagleSticks overall rating, we are rated almost 4.5 stars, and have a 93% recommendation percentage. Last season alone, EagleSticks was rated as one of the Top Public Courses in Ohio by Golf Advisor #11, Golf Week #10, and one of the Top 25 in USA by Golf Advisor for Value.
Again I appreciate your comments, and I hope we will see you back soon, because I assure you that you will find the course in favorable shape in just a few weeks.

Nice course.....slow play
Love playing this course. Great layout. Only complaint is extremely slow play. No Ranger on the course to correct this problem. Has been this way for years. Love the course....hate the pace of play !!
A Must Visit
We have been visiting EagleSticks for over 20 years now and have always had an outstanding experience! They accommodate large groups (30+) with ease and always go the extra mile to ensure everyone has a great time, no matter how high the scores get...
The course itself is not long, even from the tips, but the green speed and undulation make for some very challenging approach shots and a need for dialed-in short game play. It will take a few rounds to get to know how to play each hole and approach each green based on the pin location. You can play the course multiple days in a row and a different experience based on where they place the cup.
I would highly recommend budgeting extra time to have a drink and meal in the clubhouse before or after the round. They offer great tasting typical "bar food" and some of the best wings I have ever had. The prices and atmosphere make this the place to be!
Kelly and his staff do a great job and always make us feel welcome when we visit. I recommend making it a weekend trip (plenty of hotel options in town about 10 mins away) to play multiple times or check our their special that couples a round at The Virtues GC about 40 minutes away if your budget allows. I look forward to my return again this spring!
Dear osuferts03,
Thanks so much for the nice review. Our staff understands the importance of making the customer experience great! Glad you like the wings, we can't wait to serve some up to you this spring!

Fun Course
Had the day off and decided to play a round. Course is about an hour from Columbus. Drive's all freeway but the last 10 minutes or so.
Fall rate is $39; check golf now is about $20 cheaper. Course was in pretty good shape for the time of year, they had just aerated greens and tee boxes. I guess they have to do that sometime.
About the course. It seems to play up down and along the side of a hill so you have elevation changes aplenty. Creek meanders through and protects a couple greens. Ponds in play on a couple holes as well. Lots of trees, so if you're playing mid-fall like I did, be prepared to lose a sleeve on each side. Only bothered me when I lost them on the fairway.
Big hitters can leave the driver at home. Course is more demanding of second shots.
It's a fun Course to play.
Fast Greens
Just played in 2 Man Best Ball at EagleSticks Greens were lighting Fast, putted very true, but you better be below hole putting. Great Day, Great Weather,
Thanks for hosting such a great tourney
Incredible and challening
What a great course. Well manicured and very challenging. In a area where courses are turning into weed fields this place looks great!!!!
POOR CONDITIONS
If you are being truthful I really don't know how anyone is writing a good review of a course that is suppose to be one of the top 10 coursers in Ohio. I can think of many course better than this one. I looked so forward to playing this course and was extremely disappointed. Crabgrass growing on a host of tee boxes, some of them grassless with just mud or dirt to tee in. Sandtraps were like concrete (no sand) and the greens and fairways were in fair conditions in most places but still not in the top 10. The service gets all the talk but I went there for golf, not beer and lunch. Played there 2 days in a row but won't go back.
Noticed both your reviews are one star. Have you played any good rounds of golf?
Worth the Drive
It takes an hour and half drive for us. But every vacation we head south to this course. The staff is just so friendly from the time you book your tee time till you leave the course for the day. The views are amazing, so scenic. Am anxious to return in the fall for the changing of the leaves colors. Love the different tee box elevations on the course. Enjoy the various bridges and streams through out. Just love this course!!! Only wish it were closer....
Sks,
We love your enthusiasm and we appreciate your comments but most importantly treasure your loyalty. Please come see us again soon. Please stop in and say hello on your next visit.

Great course and great people
Went on a weekend golf trip with a few of my buddies and booked the 9 star package. We couldn't have asked for anything better then the courses Kelly Morrow picked out for us. Eaglesticks is a top notch course from tee to green. I would highly recommend virtues as well. We will be back!!
Bill,
I can't tell you how much we enjoyed serving you and your group! Maybe you will do it again next week! LOL

Great Experience
This was our 1st time playing Eaglesticks but it won't be our last. We loved the course design despite it being a little cramped in a few places. The overall course condition was great, loved the slope and speed of the greens, with the one exception being the bunkers need some work. It was a lot of fun and well worth their normal rates. The staff was more than great. Everyone made an effort to ask us how our day was going and you can tell they really care about you having a positive experience. Can't wait to go back!
Doug,
We appreciate your comments so much! I am so happy that you enjoyed the Hurdzan design and the Zanesville charm. We appreciate your business, and we will never let up when it comes to trying to do all we can to make your experience great! Next time you are in, stop in and say hello.

Top notch experience...
EagleSticks is an extreme value. Course is a gem; always in great shape regardless of weather.
Staff is accommodating to needs of our medium sized golf group. If you want to host a successful golf trip contact 9 stars of golf through the eaglesticks website and they do the rest.
Perfect weekend getaway when home is only 1 hour away.
My group will be coming back for a long time.
Skinstowin,
Thanks so much for the great feedback. We will continue to go the extra mile for you! Hope to see you again soon.

The best golf weekend you will ever have!
Once again our group did our annual trip to Eaglesticks, and just like the years before they do not disappoint. We did a 2 night 54 hole outing and the price was a great deal. The course is awesome, the only thing better is the way you are treated. From the maintenance man all the way up to PGA professional Kelly Morrow the service is outstanding. Great restaurant/bar on premises and the food is great, they even offered to cater us a meal ! Whatever you need and however you want to arrange your trip simply call Kelly and he will make it happen. You won't find a better guy anywhere and he truly cares. He goes out of his way to come find you and make sure everything is the way want it. The hotel is close and nice and friendly staff. This is a trip you don't want to miss! Brian
Very nice course.
Because of lots of rain over the past few days, it was cart path only for play. Lot of walking because of the course layout and design.
Thanks for the feedback,
I must admit I was a little confused. Headline, "very nice course" pace excellent, staff excellent, etc. and then gave us three stars? Well, we will just have to up our game the next time you are in town. You are a tough cookie, but we will do what we can to win you over!

#7 in Ohio?
High expectations not met. #7 public course in Ohio per OhioGolf.com, plus I heard from another golfer, while I was playing The Virtues, that ES is better than The Virtues. Really? It must be a real gem, I'm going! And I did. By far not the worst course I have ever been on. Just VERY crowded with no starter or ranger managing tee times (why have tee times?) or pace of play. This is my biggest complaint. Otherwise, some nice holes and a couple very nice, scenic holes. Course was in good, not great, condition, decent pro shop and pretty nice clubhouse. Looked like the place to be on a Saturday night.I haven't played all of the courses on the list at OhioGolf.com, but to be ranked #7 and ahead of Stonelick Hills, that I don't understand.
Chris,
We appreciate you taking the time to tell us your thoughts. While we don't create the rankings, we do our best to live up to them. We agree that Stonelick Hills is a great track, but what we are concerned with is that we didn't meet your expectations. Based on your comments and the areas of your complaints, I thought that three stars was a little harsh, but hey, everyone needs a little dose of humility now and then. Based on comments and other reviews most times we are able to meet expectations, but in this case we failed and hope you will make a return trip so we can make it up to you. I invite you to call me personally to discuss how we might get you here again soon. __BTW we appreciate your comments about our golf shop and facility!

Worth the Trip
Go play this course right now! EagleSticks was A++ from beginning to end. The course is absolutely amazing and a great challenge, with thrilling and beautiful holes. The staff is the envy of every other public course. Followed a few foursomes as a 2 and still played in 4 hours flat. It's almost 3 hours away and I can't wait to go back.
Tsmithjr9,
On behalf of EagleSticks I can't say "Thank You" enough. You highlighted so many of the things that we strive for, and I am sure glad you appreciated the experience. Many times people give good reviews, but I read through many of your previous reviews, and you are fair but have a critical eye. The next time you are in, please take the time to introduce yourself to me. Thank you again,

Great service and course with character
Decided to play on the way to Pittsburgh and didn't regret it. Great variety of holes and quick greens. Got around in 2.5 hours. Staff didn't hesitate to talk with you about whatever you wanted. Would definitely come back again.
dtownchris77,
I am so glad that you liked the experience we offer. Our staff aims to please, and we will do what we can to make your visit FUN!

A Track With Variety
Long and short holes, which are both challenging and fair, Lots of altitude changes in a beautiful setting, Nice greens that stimped at about 10, Female bartender at the bar upstairs had the personality of a wet dishcloth.
firstpumba,
Thanks for making the trip from Massillon. Our staff is very pleased that you enjoyed our course. We hope that we see you again in 2016!

A must play for Ohioans
My wife and I played the course yesterday. We'd always wanted to play it since it was part of the 9 stars of golf deal along with Virtues. The course was in super condition (minus a few bunkers) and the greens are where it's at! Super true and very respectable. Made a birdie on the short Par 4 7th so I was already happy! Seriously you won't be disappointed at this gem.
Ohio Golf Guy,
Thanks for all of the great comments, but a special thanks for posting the pictures of your day. We hope you will be back soon! When you return, please stop in and introduce yourself to me!
