Considering conditions the course played well.
Wednesday’s are ladies day, so play was really slow. Five hours for the round. The course was in good shape considering how much rain we’ve had.
The staff was very nice, and the cart lady was outstanding.
Early in season
Greens: plugged 1st week in April but showing progress
Tees : good
Fairways: still play winter rules
Rough: see fairways
Traps: still in winter conditions
U may use power carts on fairways
This is a full par 72 course
Golfing in March
We had a 9:30 tee time, 38degrees. 11 and it was 55, 1:00 72.degrees. On our front nine it was really slow. Women's league was playing with lots of players. They weren't slow, just a lot of people, waited at each tee off. But, on the back 9 no waiting And gorgeous day! We will come back!
Lake Spanaway in late winter
The course was in great shape for this time of year except that the greens were bumpy with ball marks and other bumps.
Winter course
Was looking for another dry course in the area and this is it! With all the rain we've had this past couple of months the course is firm and in great shape!
Great Course Poor Staff
Golf course was in great condition for November! Only complaint would be if you pay for a beer and they try to give it to you half filled with foam you shouldn’t receive an attitude for telling them to re pour or you don’t want it! Learn to pour a beer out of a tap... tilt cup then pour, straighten as you fill!
Good pace of play
Pace of play was good for a Saturday 11:30 tee time. Food and drink service was excellent. The one negative was we had to wait to get a cart.
Old reliable
Spanaway always a good test and offers lots of different club options
Dry
Nice fast greens. Decent course for a municipal course. Pase of play was much better this time.
Fivesomes
R tee time was around 10am...had to wait on the group in front of us (5ppl in group)....Course should not allow fivesomes before 12N.
Best thing in Spanaway?
I dont' spend a lot of time in the Spanaway area, but after playing Lake Spanaway that might change a bit.
Played there for the first time on a weekday and while there were a good number of golfers, it wasn't packed and the pace of play was excellent. Walking we got around in 4 hours.
I really enjoyed the layout, there are a couple really pretty holes and a couple par 4's that are quite a challenge. I enjoyed ending the round with a blind tee shot that I wish I would have hit better than I did.
The greens were in very good shape, but I struggled with both speed and the read, but I am finding that with all the greens in the area after a couple of decades golfing in Arizona. Simply put, it was my fault that I putted poorly, not the courses.
I like that they keep the under brush at a minimum, an errant tee shot can be found, trust me, I know first hand. If I had one criticism I would like to see a little more water on the course and the water that is there was really stagnant looking. I believe that there are fountains in some of them but none of them were turned on when we played.
I will definitely be back, it was a great price for a very walkable course that offers both straightforward and challenging holes.
Lake Spanaway - Hardpan Course
I had a discount coupon which made it worth it. Otherwise I would play there. Very Doable but lots of hardpan. Balls keep on rolling, and rolling, and rolling. This would be okay if they were rolling down the fairway, but no - the hardpan is on the sides of the fairway so balls roll right on thru to the ajoining fairways.

My favorite course around by far. It's not as challenging as some others but always fun to play. If you get the app they have weekly deals with cart food and range balls for 18 holes around 25 bucks! Try and find a better deal anywhere in Washington. Forgiving for higher handicaps like me. It's well maintained and the greens are in great shape this year.
