About
Located less than an hour from Seattle in Lakewood, Oakbrook Golf Club is one of the area's hidden gems. Opened in 1966 as a private club, the course opened its doors to the public in 2012. The course is known for its smooth, firm, and fast greens. The 6,700-yard layout plays both narrow and long but it is player friendly enough to appeal to a wide range of skill levels. With hundreds of mature oak trees scattered throughout the course, accuracy is key. It's a course that rewards strategy rather than raw skill. One of Oakbrook Golf Club's toughest holes is the par-4 seventh, which you'll have to play from below since it's sloped steeply from top to bottom. The downhill shots and doglegs will put golfers of any skill level to the test.

Great Pace of Play
I had a 9:18 tee time Sunday morning expecting slow play but I zoomed around in 4 hours. The staff was great, greens were a little inconsistent but I would expect that with rough PNW spring. Otherwise the fairways were rolling out! Really impressed with the course and the friendly staff.
Sun was out
Great condition for the middle of winter, Super friendly in the pro shop. Great value at this time of year. Beautiful course can’t wait to come again in the summer.
Hidden NW Gem
First time playing here. Got a golfnow hot-deal. Challenging and fair layout. Fairways and greens were in great shape.
Great course bad marshal
Course marshal was very rude and approached us in the parking lot when we got out of our cars telling us that we can be fined for outside beverages. I understand he has a job to do but we hadn’t even got our bags out of the car yet. On top of all that they didn’t even have a beverage cart out on a Saturday when the weather was nice. The course was nice and in good shape but the staff makes me not want to golf here again.
Slow
Idk what it is about the west coast but but seems like people move 10x slower started at 1:46 ended at 6:29, My average round is 3:30. Other than pace the course, staff, and facilities were amazing.
Recommendation: have a Marshal monitor pace because people move like pond water.
Oakbrook Golf Course
IMO, Oakbrook Golf Club is one of The Best courses in the greater Tacoma area. It’s more difficult than most, but in a ‘fair’ - not tricked up way. I play it multiple times every year to determine my own game.
The fairways and greens are perfect. The staff here are exceptional. Give it a try, you won’t be disappointed.
Oakbrook Golf Course is a hidden gem
Previously a private golf club, Oakbrook golf course is part of the Ryan Moore organization.
I the course is in perfect condition, the fairways are like carpeting, the greens roll true. It’s more difficult than most courses I play, but well worth the challenge.
Nice course
It is a very well taken care course. It is definitely a long drivers course. Fun to play.
Excellent Customer Service
Tee time was 11:27a and I got it in my head that we were off at 11:37a. By the time I realized I'd messed up, I got into the pro-shop and the guy at the desk (wish I'd gotten his name) said he was stacked for the next 90 minutes. He offered to have the pro, who was giving a lesson, to run us out to the single we were paired with once his lesson finished. We waited for about 40 minutes and when the pro came back to the shop, they discovered a gap at the 10th so they sent us out on the back nine. We finished the back in around 2 hours, then got sent out on the front nine immediately. Played that nine in under 2 hours. The pro-shop guy apologized for the delay and said we could play for free next time we came back, even though the error was completely mine.
The course itself has tree-lined fairways that are tough but fair. Greens are multi-tiered and can hand you 3 putts or worse if you're not careful.
Can't say enough about the friendly, helpful staff.
Would definitely recommend this course for golfers of any skill level.
My only complaint would be maybe having a starter to keep jack wagons like myself on time. LOL
