Inniscrone Golf Club
About
Inniscrone Golf Club in Avondale is one of the toughest public courses in the area. It is a formidable challenge to say the least, but an enjoyable one. None of the holes run parallel to each other and no two holes are alike either. The greens have quite a bit of variation from one to the next but mostly they are very large and extremely fast. Although the greens only have mild contouring, the rippling landscape still provides plenty of challenges throughout. Strategically placed bunkers perfectly complement the dramatic elevation changes, ranging from pot bunkers to vast expanses of sand. Inniscrone Golf Club's ninth hole is a memorable one since it encapsulates the course's appeal with a ridge of cross-bunkers just off the tee and even more along the left side.

Hole 13, back of the green Photo submitted by Edward3574350 on 12/20/2012
A difficult layout. Course was in great shape. Great value.
The course is challenging and in great shape. The staff is friendly and eager to please. A great value for the money.
Great but SLOW course!!!
The value and course are great and the staff is very friendly but check on the amount of golfers first, 18 holes took 5plus hours, and didn't see a marshal once. Would recommend just be prepared.
Wonderful layout
Great and challenging golf course. Tee boxes need attention perhaps the amount of rain over the past few days had something to do with it. Greens on some holes appeared to have minor damage cause by someone wearing hard spikes.
Course is challenging for mid handicapper.
The course was in good shape except for the greens due to players not repairing ball marks. It takes 20 seconds and many people don't do it. Greens are tough to hit if you are not accurate.
Don't like the wastewater lagoons adjacent to some holes.
Very nice course and fast putting green.
Great course. It was wet due t o rain the day before so we were fooled by how fast the greens were. It is very challenging course as you seldom get a flat stance on your approach shots. Enjoy course very much even we did not score well. The only thing was that they did not have any snack carts on the course.
Convenient and okay for the money
One of the big issues we had with playing this course is there was no map of the course. It was very difficult to find some of the holes and #8 was the worst. Drove around awhile and then had to ask someone where it was. The greens definitely needed a little TLC. But, aside from that the overall course was okay.
Good course, but those greens...
Very fun and challenging course. Played on a beautiful Friday afternoon and pace of play was very acceptable. The greens looked good, but once on them there were literally tons of ball marks. Doesn't anyone repair their own anymore? I can't imagine how bad they will be by July. The rough was "rough" about 5" high, and seemed to eat balls left and right.
Overall a good value and nice place to play.
Fun and challenging at the same time
Course was in good but not great shape. Was shocked how abused the greens are. Doesn't anyone repair "their" ball marks here???? It was sad to see so many and it's only May.
The rough was long and rough. It seemed to eat balls alive.
Overall a tricky layout, but always a fun time with friends.
very slow but course was set up nicely
would go back to play again the couse was set up to my
liking and greens were quick and true
Great track
Loved this course greens were fast and ball position on approach shots was key to scoring well. Very well maintained wish people would learn how to fix their ball marks on the greens. If you bomb it off the tee you will have to pull 3 wood from time to time. Great value.
Best value around
For the money, this is the best course that you will find. Very interesting course layout. Nice mix of easy and difficult holes, although even on the easy ones you can get in some trouble. Greens were in perfect conditions. Not much lacking on the fairways, roughs, and bunkers either. Couldn't recommend highly enough.
Challenging but needs more attention for the price...
I played here on a late Thursday afternoon and if it had not been such a beautiful day I probably would have rated my visit 3 stars.
First, the course is a great layout, very challenging I would think for even someone with much better skills than my own. There are a lot of long forced carries on the back 9 which really seem to be pretty unnecessary other than to terrorize people or drive up ball sales in the pro shop.
The biggest surprise I had was that given the great reviews this course gets I found that the greens were in pretty bad shape still for May. I have played at least a half dozen other clubs in the area and found these to be rough, yellowed, dimpled and generally looking like they have been thoroughly trampled with little regard.
The staff (other than the folks in the pro shop) were friendly, although they did seem to be a little aloof for a club that would charge someone $45 to putt on those greens.
Overall-I would still go back again....
This course will challange you on every hole.
You must be on your game when playing this track..With that being said the course is still a pleasure to play. My first time playing here, so maybe on the next go around will score better. There are some unique holes on this course like the 16th (a double fairway). A few blind holes which I don't like to much, but they won't keep me from playing again. The staff was superb very friendly.
Greens in bad shape. The course has gotten rid of a number of sand traps, redone others. Cutting the greens too short right now
I thought Golfnow would be a better price than just walking in off the street, but it was the same cost ?.....
some good new changes for 2103
I played here on 5/1/13 and was advised some player friendly changes had been made to the course.. Some of the jungle and wetlands area had been cleared out making it easier to find your ball on certain holes.. Also, some traps are in the process of becoming grass bunkers... The course is still tremendously challenging and the greens are in super shape and fast.. This course boasts a 143 slope from the back tees and even the best players should think twice before attempting it... I played the gold tees which are next to the back tees and the course still boasts a 137 slope from there.. The people are great out at the course and I played a few holes with the pro Dave and he is a great guy.. Go treat yourself to a great round out at Inniscrone and get a great discount with golfnow.com like I did.. This course at one time commanded a 100 dollar green fee when it first turned public,, I got a 17 dollar rate that included cart.. and the conditions are like a 100 dollar course.
Very fast greens !
Could see improvements made from last year. Greens area fast !
Greens unbelievably difficult!
My buddy n I loved the rich beautiful fairways the many carrys and the natural beauty. We both, low 90s, high 80s golfers found the greens too hard. Unreasonably so for our level of skill. Needs correction!
Inniscrone Very Good
Greens were thin, in poor to average condition.
#10 & 16 are quirky, not to my liking.
Overall though, a fun and very challenging test. It may well deserve its slope rating of 143!!
Tough Test!
Played April 16 so definitely early season conditions. Three of us played with a guy who had played the course a couple times. Without his knowledge of the layout we would have been cussing all day. Length is not the issue here, as forced carries are realistic and the course only plays 6500 from the Tips, but believe me it is a stern test. Fast, undulating greens will have you shaking your head. Management has changed and it appears that money is being invested to return this track to what designer Gil Hanse envisioned. If that happens the rates are sure to go up, however they have plenty of room to increase them before I would say you are not getting a fair value. The photos on their website don't convey the true aesthetics of a very interesting design.
Solid
The course is pretty much what you would expect for the cost. It was the beginning of the season, so it was expected that everything the course would not be in pristine condition. The sand traps weren't maintained yet, but that was really the only negative.
