Inniscrone Golf Club
About
Inniscrone Golf Club in Avondale is one of the toughest public courses in the area. It is a formidable challenge to say the least, but an enjoyable one. None of the holes run parallel to each other and no two holes are alike either. The greens have quite a bit of variation from one to the next but mostly they are very large and extremely fast. Although the greens only have mild contouring, the rippling landscape still provides plenty of challenges throughout. Strategically placed bunkers perfectly complement the dramatic elevation changes, ranging from pot bunkers to vast expanses of sand. Inniscrone Golf Club's ninth hole is a memorable one since it encapsulates the course's appeal with a ridge of cross-bunkers just off the tee and even more along the left side.

Hole 13, back of the green Photo submitted by Edward3574350 on 12/20/2012
Not for the timid.
This is a great course that requires pure shots. If u cant hit draws or fades on command u will suffer. Low scores take alot of work.
Good deal, Tough course
I always try to get out here once a year, and i always end up tired. Well maintained and not usually overcrowded.
A just above average course that is a good deal for $45 or less.
Challenging course I'd say 7.5/10. Some holes are easy (holes 1 & 2) then 3,4,5 can be tricky. I.E. hole 4 has a narrow uneven fairway then hole 5 is a very very short steep downhill par 3 that can easily turn into a "5" if you dont hit your first ball well. Its def. a fun course to play. Average or below average golfers would find this course difficult. This is my first year going out weekly golfing (last few years I've gone out maybe 5-10xs), so I'd say Im still a beginner. I shot a 103 the last time out (47 on the back) and I'd say thats a pretty good score for me considering some of the more difficult holes on this course.
Only 1 bad hole
Good Price. Good Course. A lot of Blind shots and the 16th hole should be blown up, but all in all good stuff.
Tuff course for women
This course is tuff for women but in somewhat good condition. The man at the desk was quite friendly but the bag boy walked away when it came time to get our clubs out of our car. It was great to see a ranger on the course although he could stop and say hi or something. It is ashamed that some would vandalize the hole markers
Good test of your game.
We played as a twosome so the pace was very good. It was not crowded. There are some difficult holes and the green are big with allot of grade. It is one of those courses that the more you play it the better you will know the approach shots to the greens.
We enjoyed the course, nice challenge.
Challenging but not fair
Ive always wanted to play this course. Was excited to see it at a great rate with open tee times on this site. The cart paths are horrible with tons of uneven areas and potholes. There are no placards at the tee box nor a map on the scorecard so for a firsttimer, had no idea where we were going on at least half the holes. A bit frustrating. Factor in several blind holes and a few with very long carry over envionmental areas , made for a slightly frustrating round. Definitley a great value at the price but needs better markings on the course to make it easier for non regular players.
Get a yardage book
If you have never played this course before, get a yardage book or have a GPS. Not for yardage, but features. This course has a lot of blind shots. There is an elevation change on every hole. I really enjoyed the layout, but the uneven lies in the fairways got me. I hit all but 2 fairways, but still had trouble scoring. This was my first time playing here. I would go back if it were closer. The fairways and tee boxes were in great condition. The greens were not bad considering all the rain we have had.
Good value for the money
Overall the course is in decent shape. On hole 9 to 12 the smell from the septic or mushroom farm is extremely strong. Greens need rolling.
Previous Reviews Say It All
This is a VERY challenging course but most of the previous reviews hit the nail on the head. There are TONS of unrepaired divots on the greens and the ones that HAVE been fixed aren't done very well. Greens are quick but not as quick as the practice green. Definitely a shotmakers/placement course. Miss the fairway and you'll pay the price. Fairways were in very good condition but our group got very little roll (rained the night before#. In my opinion, there are 2 holes that need to be blown up and start over, the par 3 5th. A half wedge downhill to a very small green with no bailout beyond the green #red stakes#. #10 is again another downhill shot with a mid to long iron with very little level ground in the landing area. A little short and you'll have a severe downhill lie to a downhill green with a gaping waste area between them.
Bring something to stuff in your nostrils as the smell of poo from nearby farms can be overwhelming many times during the round. There are also several waste water treatment ponds on the course.
Pace of play was excellent for a Saturday. We got through in about 3:40 and never saw the group in front of us or behind us. It's amazing what happens when a course PROPERLY spaces their tee times #Inniscrone is 10 minutes) instead of stuffing them in every 8 minutes.
Nice course. Greens are a little beat up.
Course plays long. Most driving holes are open and you can get away with less then perfect shots.
beautiful scenery, members need lessons in repairing ball marks
greens were in bad shape, many unrepaired ball marks and spike marks, course is challenging if you don't keep your tee shots in the fairway
Not so easy but I really enjoyed this course...
The threat of rain kept the course nearly empty - so pace of play was slow - rather enjoyed not being rushed
Ominous clouds skirted our positions throughout the day but actually rained very little - just enough to cool down the temp to 83*
it meditative...

Decent value for the $$
Hard to complain too much over a course that costs $39 but greens were in horrible shape. We've had a ton of rain and a touch of extreme heat but it appeared greens were over-watered causing them to be extra soft and there were sooo many divots and ball marks on the greens. So soft, there were soft-spike marks all over the green as if Sasquatch played a round in football cleats! Especially around the holes of course. Green's speeds were inconsistent and pin placements were ludicrous (every one seemed to be tucked in a back corner).
Fun Course With Unique Holes...
Had a lot of fun playing here. The course was super wet when we were there and made some shots out of the fairway very tricky. When paying for our round the pro shop employee recommended we play the green tees for our first time there, and that was a good recommendation. It shortened the course, but simply made you play a bit of a course management.
We drove out here from Philly, so it was a bit of a haul. We MIGHT make the trip again, but would also look at some other courses in the area. Great course. Play it if you can. You won't be disappointed.
Friendly course in a golf community.
Houses are not on top of the course. Lots of "forgiveness" for shots from tee but several tricky areas with rough where your drive may land (Back 9)
keep your driver out
nice course, really wet to the point there was casual water in the fairways on some holes, played a lot longer
this is a real challenge
front nine is more open but the demand to put the ball with the proper angles to the greens is a must or you wont score. greens are not flat and the pins are very tough positions of which many times you play away from the pin and let the slopes put in in better places to putt. if you don't expect 3 and 4 putt greens. plays longer than the yardage shows, but there are no trick holes and everything is in front of you to see before you hit your shot.
Very fast but true greens
Nice course with a couple of flakey holes. Great value for the price.
