Viroqua Hills Golf Course

About
Viroqua Hills Golf Course is tucked away amongst lush, rolling hills in the heart of Vernon County. Originally opened in 1930 as a public nine-hole course, and another nine was added in 1996, bringing the length to over 6,300 yards. The original nine, holes 1-3 and 13-18, has a traditional design that plays across wooded hills. Getting to the new nine requires crossing through a tunnel where on the other side, two ponds and a waterfall await you. Both nines have a distinct character but they both feature undulating greens and wide fairways lined with mature pine, oak, and birch trees. There are also sand traps bordering the greens on 14 holes and the fairways on six holes. The 11th is Viroqua Hills Golf Course's signature hole, known for the scenic view from its elevated tee box perched 100 feet above the fairway.

Always Excellent
Not many courses out there that the staff takes more pride in — conditions are always good and the greens are seemingly quicker than any public course you’ll play.
Most of the the time I play VH on my own early but this round I invited a friend that is a member at a private club in the LaCrosse area that I used to be a member at for many years — he was amazed by the quality of turf and greens and the challenge the course provides.
Don’t sell the scorecard yardage short — it plays MUCH longer as it can be hilly and approach shots often require an extra club if not two —
Nice course
The course is challenging but also forgiving for those of us who are not pros. The course is in great shape.
Conditions were good. Greens were quick and for the most part smooth and true. Tees and fairways were in good shape. Every time I've played here over the years it's in good shape. Layout is fun and challenging without being too difficult for mid and high handicap golfers. Will play again.
Shuffling spiked feet
Lately golfers with spikes have ruined the previously excellent green conditions. One has to spend time repairing the damage before putting.
Best Rural Course in SW Wisconsin!
It's a beautiful and challenging (greens) place to enjoy a round!
