Rivermoor Golf Club
About
Originally opened in 1929 as the Waterford Woods Golf Course, the club reemerged in 2008 as the Rivermoor Golf Club. Along with its new name, the club also revealed improvements to the playability and condition of the 18-hole course. The design of the golf course was largely determined by the scenic topography, which is covered with mature trees and dotted with ponds. There are also a few streams that meander across the landscape. Rivermoor Golf Club is a proud member of the Audubon Sanctuary System. Beyond providing a secluded setting and great scenery, the terrain also makes for a challenging round. The trees frame most of the holes and water hazards come into play on a few holes. There are also strategically placed bunkers with which to contend.

Great flow
Course was busy, but pace of play was great.
Greens were True!
Tee boxes were hard. Tough to place tee , and actually broke a plastic tee while placing it.
Small greens, tough pins. Fun track.
I would definitely play this course again.
Pace of play.
Course needs Rangers. People play like it is their own personal course. Players play wrong tees. It's pretty much always slow, today we got 9 holes in 3 hours. Didn't make turn as 6 players were teeing off on 1, only 3 were in front of us the first 9, Where did the other 3 come from? Players were to start on 10. Slow and intentionally slow
No golf etiquette!
I paid for 18, want my money back
I won't go back there! Never! And we have been there plenty. Final straw, disgusting hillbillies!
Repeat players
Nice shorter course I can play with my wife. Tee boxes are too hard to get tees in the ground. Most greens are small and hard. Love to play here, but need to use the irrigation.
Play this course
Nice layout Tree lined. Small greens
Good test for all levels.
Great deal on Golf Now.
What a deal!
$18 for 18 holes with cart! Can’t play nine for that price. And Rivermoor is a great course. Good layout. Plenty challenging and in spectacular shape. Don’t pass this place up!!!
Pace of play! Get someone out there to keep things moving! People play like it is their own personal course!
Course in Poor Condition
I'd like to preface this review by stating that I rarely provide post round reviews in general, but in this case my son and I both felt it was needed and deserved.
I've played Rivermoor in Waterford several times and had no complaints until this last round. The condition of the course on this day was one of the worst I have ever played a round on. The greens were not maintained in any way, other than being mowed, and were the color of a wheat field. They were nearly as hard as concrete and had bare patches in numerous locations. They also had debris on them as if they hadn't been cleared in weeks. The fairways had no give to them whatsoever and was almost like hitting off of hard pan.
In addition to the poor condition of the course, we found that simple golf etiquette was lacking as well. We were almost hit several times by errant shots and never once received the standard warning of 4 before balls landed within 10 to 20 feet of us. Numerous groups were extremely loud, even yelling to others in their group while other golfers were teeing off, hitting from the fairway, or putting. We also noted that social distancing was not enforced in any way as we saw groups of non-golfers hanging around the deck just socializing. We even saw a staff member ask a group if they were waiting for their tee time. When members responded that they were just hanging out nothing was said or done about it. Normally I wouldn't care about the non-golfers socializing, but under the current circumstances it should have been addressed.
In the end our experience was so poor that we left after the 12th hole when we were almost hit by 3 golfers in the same group hitting errant shots. Again, we never received the standard warning of 4 so we could at least try to protect ourselves. Between nearly being hit numerous times, golfers yelling while others were trying to hit shots or putt, lack of enforcement of social distancing, the substandard condition of the course, lack of any rangers to enforce rules and standard golf etiquette, and the $49 dollar green fee, I just can't recommend playing a round here at this time. There are just too many other courses in the area that would have been much better options for the $49 cost. The only good thing I can say about the round at Rivermoor is that the staff in the pro shop and bar area were extremely courteous, helpful and professional, which is the only reason that I gave this place even a 1 star rating. Hopefully Rivermoor will adjust and get back to being a great place to play a round as it has been in the past.
Great Course, I’ll be back
This is a great course. Beautiful layout, lots of variety, and well maintained.
Fun sporty course
I drove 65 miles to play course due to all courses in IL shut down due to CR 19 . Course was crowded for being 34 degrees but greens were in great shape. The people that play this course are mostly local and very friendly I had cart to 5 groups of walker waved me though it was great. I was able to play a 1/2 full course In three hours. Layout was fun many slight dog leg par 4 s so you had to target your drive. Some hills and some lateral water for fun. I payed. At 6000 yards from white tee a good test for me due to cold temp it’s a fun course I will play again
Very nice
The course is in very nice shape even with the greens been prepared for winter but the best is the friendly staff
Lots of trees
Need well placed drives to score well on this coarse not long but narrow fairways lined with trees
Awesome
Nice fairways, greens in very nice shape also and very friendly staff, played 18 holes as a twosome in less than 4 hrs
