Golfer Reviews
To slow
This is the second time I played this course and it is way too slow
WORST ROUND EVER
Came on a Thursday at 2 its took 6 hrs to finish with ridiculous waits at every hole. 4 groups in front of us just left. This is the second time it happens. and no cafe or anything to eat. Just a horrible experience will never golf there again! Save your money hit the range!
Pace
Played in about 3 3/4 hours but could have been faster. Played as twosome and then three but the 4 players walking would not let us thru. They played from Blue tees but they should have played "Senior.
Always a good round
Course in good shape. We finished in just less than 4 and a half hours, which is great for a Sunday afternoon round. They even had Sunday pin placements... hadn't seen such tough pin placements here before. Very satisfied! I always walk this course... its a good walk!
Best conditions in 30 years
I’ve played Los Amigos since I was a kid and I’ve never seen the greens in better shape than yesterday. It’s still a short muni but at least the greens are nice now. Good job!
@Tyder2810
@Tyder2810 You’re a moron. “Eticut”? I believe the word you’re looking for is “etiquette.” Also, it’s “too,” not “to.” As in, “Tyder is way too stupid to write reviews.” Get off the course and open a book, genius.
Los Amigos Golf Course
Overall this is a nice course. Not too challenging and not a lot of hazards. But fun to play. Overall condition was good. Our only complaint, is that the snackbar was closed (mid day) and the only food was in the bar/restaurant area. There were no quick bites-- only ordering off the menu, so it was impossible to make the 9th-10th hole turn and get fast food so we had to forgoe ordering anything (but some beer) in order to keep up with our postion in the quque. They should have premade sandwiches, hot dogs or other quick foods available. (or plan to bring your own?)
Pace of Play
Usually I enjoy playing Los Amigos. Pace is about average of 4 1/4 to 4 1/2 hours. My 11:22 tee time became 11;45. Group in front of us was 2 ladies and a gentleman who played ready golf in as much as ladies would tee off and start walking before gentleman would hit. BUT the FIVESOME in front of them were five guys Four in Carts and one WALKING. Played NO READY GOLF, Marked Putts at ANy Distance. Never putted out. Practice Second putts continuously. On seventeen at least three of them re-putted and I had to yell from tee to get them to move.
Sign in cart about ready golf means nothing about being removed from course if no MARSHALL is on course to enforce.
50% Grass and 50% dirt
This golf course was a disappointment to say the least. There was only a 50/50 chance of actually landing on a patch of grass. That number goes down if you start counting all the patches of crab grass and humps of weeds. It’s a shame because the greens are interesting, one hole has three separate levels and depending on the pin placement it’s like playing a different hole. Don’t let me get started on the bunkers that contain anything but sand.
Unfortunately the players on this course don’t seem to fix their ball marks or rake the sand traps, that is very frustrating. For the amount of money it cost to play this course it is terribly over priced. About a mile away is Rio Hondo, I suggest you pass Los Amigos on your way to Rio Hondo.
Pace
Pace was OK at 4 hours and 30 minutes. BUT, too many Fivesomes. there were 2 fivesome , then twosome, then us treesome, then foursome then another fivesome. No hitting up on par three's that have signs saying so. Course is having overseed repair work done, which s good, greens were cut and uncut making fast and slow.
Challenge green !
Grouped with 4 other players, it was a very fun round with wonderful people. Faiway has some bare patches, green is where the challenge is.
Los Amigos
Tee boxes and fairways rock hard, needs a lot more water. Greens were in decent shape, a few bad spots here and there but decent for the most part.
