Golfer Reviews
Lost our Business!
I booked a round for four people through Golf Now. After paying we discovered that the person behind the desk did not honor the online rate. Each person was overcharged by $2. Because we weren't overcharged by a large amount we didn't challenge it. Next, the pace of place was by far the worst we had ever experienced on this course at more than 5 1/2 hours. When we asked why they didn't have a Marshall to move things along they just said it was a busy day and they don't use Marshalls. They put far too many fivesomes on the course and there were many beginners who were playing from the long tees. They were hitting balls into other golfers, into golf carts and everywhere else. All of this destroyed the experience for most of the golfers out there on this day. Will likely never play at Los Amigos again!
Staff did absolutely nothing about the pace of play. There was a t least a 3 hole gap and the round was around 6-6.5hrs.
Definitely the slowest pace of play among all the courses I’ve played. The course is well maintained. Five-somes and lack of marshalls will keep players away from this quite decent course.
If you love 6-hour rounds, you'll love Los Amigos.
Mid-Week/Mid-Day
Not sure if it was the 101 degrees or timing - 2:15 minutes to play with waiting on the last three holes. Enjoyed the round completely.
Los Amigos
I got a great price on Golf Now, that always helps out the golf experience. I’ve golfed here several times and always have a good time. Pace of play has improved in recent visits and every staff member, from the clubhouse to the bar/restaurant always provide good customer service. Only negative was the greens, they weren’t in the best of shape. But not enough to keep me from returning. See you next time Los Amigos.
Call Ahead
Booked our time on GolfNow.
When we got to the course they had sent 30... Count'em 30 1st Tee kids out directly ahead of our afternoon tee time.
I'm all about the 1st Tee. But you can't sell tee times directly after them and expect anyone to finish.
We had no choice but to pick up our balls in the 1st Fairway and head back for a refund.
Staff was extraordinarily impatient and rude. Wouldn't tolerate any frustration despite their incompetence.
Would never recommend.
Fivesomes
At one point I said I would always check that a course doesn't allow fivesomes. Well I broke that rule and coincidentally it took a twosome of low 80's golfers nearly six hours to finish their round.
Greens still need work
I played this course with a old friend of mine. I haven't played on this course in over 15 years, back when I was a Junior Member of the Men's Club.
They have definitely put some work on the course. Fairways are in better shape. My favorite change was turning the 9th hole into a Par 4. The hole typically plays into the wind. So, attempting to carry your Driver 250 yds over sand traps with a backstop for a green, is a risk/reward opportunity. I wish the would extend the fairway out to the right, as a bail out spot for those attempting to go for the green.
#17 played all the way back needs to be a Par 4 or otherwise, shortened. It plays into the wind.
More practicing options with pitching areas and a sand practice area. Awesome.
Greens are still very bumpy and slow. Mgmt needs to put more of the money into better rolling greens. They call them "green fees" for a reason!
Great condition , layout , etc
clean and newer carts ; grasses all in good shape. nice crowd playing . I played for the first time here and so far it is one of the best courses in LA
Los Amigos March 2017
This course plays short and is a confidence builder for early spring. No real hazards on the front 9, however some water comes into play on the back 9. Food and facilities were average. Driving range mats were missing numerous tees. Only real peeve on this day was pace of play (Sunday). My round took 4+50. There was no starter (outside), Marshal or beverage cart on course. Golfers were allowed to go out when ready. A little course management by pairing up golfers would go a long way to make the day more enjoyable.
To say your not going to play a good golf course like Los Amigos because of a few bad golf shots and perhaps a new golfers bad judgement and because the round took 5 1/2 hrs. This is par for any golf course. I plan to be on the course for most of the day and to save an hour (3 mins. per hole) doesn't make my day any better or worse , are you sure you didn't just play poorly. It's a good golf course give it and yourself another shot. Now for the 8 bucks Really?
