This course is great for the money. Very reasonable.
For an inexpensive municipal course it works fine. Pace of play is good & the greens are decent. Fairways are in need of water, but it is a very mature course. The staff is very friendly.
Good for twilight rates, or golfnow specials.
Course is way better than it used to be, but it was HORRIBLE before. Fairways are dormant for the most part. They are patchy in a few areas. A few of the tee boxes need a lot of attention. Some have little grass to hit off of, and its hard to find a level spot. For the most part, the greens have Improved immensely. But they are still bumpy and some are very very soft. I'd say for a discount, this is a decent deal to play, especially if youre the first group out for twilight. Anything after that, youre not guaranteed to finish.
Beat up Muni Course
I know you get what you pay for with municipal courses but the tee boxes were terrible; uneven and beat to junk. Fairways and greens were in standard muni form but you were hitting off clay/dirt in a few fairways. Not worth the drive or cost (even a Hot Deal) coming from West LA. You can get out on Westchester at the rack rate to play the same conditions.
Confidence builder12/23
Flat with some water. A little more challenging from the blue tees. Greens were in good condition with the fairways fair. A couple of the pin placements were in difficult spots. Pace of play was great for a Sunday(although the weather may have contributed to this). Good course to build your confidence on.
Improving golf course
This place is definitely coming together nicely with new management. The new carts are excellent and the course conditions are maintained. The greens could be a little quicker but all in all well worth the weekday price.
very nice !!!
Hope to see more time slots for discounted golf prices!!!
The course is going through changes.
I hadn't played at Los Amigos in a few months so I was surprised to see that the course is under new management. The clubhouse is being remodeled, the course looked in better shape that before, and I spoke with the new management, who told me that they have big plans for Los Amigos. I was very glad to see the few improvements that were already done and look forward to the rest of the changed.
Worst LA county course I've played on.
The conditions of this course were just awful. If greens could have a negative stimp, these would. I rented two sets of clubs for my uncles visiting from the UK. Only one set had a putter.
There was also a fivesome in front of us playing incredibly slow. Not once did I see a marshall on the course, let alone did anyone say to them "Hey, you're five holes behind."
I will gladly never play this course again.
A lot of trees! Don't miss the fairway or u'll be in the trees.
I heard the course was under new management. It used to be horrible! New management brought in new carts, brand new range balls, new driving range mats and have already fixed most of the greens. We did have to play number 9 as a temporary but no big deal. They have a very friendly staff and it was real easy to get on. The starter told me that they are going to be putting in new cart paths, re-doing all of the bunkers and trimming 200 trees. I will be back!
