Great for ur everyday player
I like it, I plan on making a drive from home and bringing my golf buddies
course has great dreams
I played this course 18 years ago, shot one of my greatest scores 71 I'm now at my ending years but now one of my sons loves the game.THe course is so much better with bunkers and great greens, we will be back.
los amigos
Good value, wide open, course in good condition, nice facility.
Great fairways and an awesome value! Greens were very slow and a bumpy.
I played this course on Memoriam Day. It was not crowded at all. The course has improved over the years. Most holes contain wide fairways, where a person can bomb away with their drivers. There are a few holes with doglegs, but you can still hit your 3 wood. My favorite hole was #17, a 223 yard Par 3.
Los Amigos was challenging, with the secondary rough off the fairway pretty deep. My one complaint are the greens. They were incredibly slow and bumpy. I'm used to fast greens, speed 10+. The greens at Los Amigos were more a 5 speed. So sssssssllllloooooowwwwwwwwwww. It felt like putting on shag carpet.
Overall a good value, $35 with a cart. The attendant gave me a hard time when I checked in. He asked to see my golfnow.com reservation in order to receive an electric cart. This course is very flat and walkable. I may play here again, if they mow their greens.
Great little course
This course is constantly being upgraded and continues to impress. It's not the longest but a great course to get out and walk around on. The greens can present some challenges which this little course needs. Prices are right, too. Will continue to play and enjoy this course.
Solid Course
Great course for a leisurely round of golf. Pretty wide open with a few dog legs that make a few holes a little more challenging. Good experience, just wish they had a snack cart driving around.
Improved
Course did challenge us. Our scores were handicapped by high winds and greens still recovering from a recent punching. Our group anticipates better scores all around once the greens fully recover! 19th hole has to offer more in the way of better bar pricing, food selection and pricing; then maybe it won't be so empty!
Staff was awesome, marshals needed.
Slow play
Just as a prior reviewer stated - slow rounds. Took 3.5 hrs to make the turn. We left after the 12th cause we were waiting 10-15min each hole at the tee box. Started at 1:30. Woulda finished at 7:30 if we completed the round. Only went cause the hot deal and wanted to check out renovations. course is in better shape but will most likely not play unless someone else wants to.
Happy golfing!
They have a lot of improvement. The cart paths, cafe, clubhouse, carts and crew members are all good. Well well well.
Slow
A little slow finished 18 in about 5 hours. Overall great value.
Good First Experience
Really enjoyed our first experience at Los Amigos. I understand that it recently changed course management. The staff was extremely friendly. I found the course to be moderately challenging. It's good to go with someone who has played there because water does pop up unexpectedly. Interesting dog legs on various holes. Greens were running true. For a city owned course, again, a very pleasant experience.
Better than a couple years ago
This a fairly flat/easy layout for high to mid cappers that is fun and pretty cheap(L.A. County course). Pace can be slower as any muni on the weekend. New cart paths and new bunkers have improved the track from a couple of years ago. The old par 3 #9 is now a par 4, bringing the course total up to a par 70.
Pleasantly surprised
Fairly easy course in surprising pretty good condition. There was actual sand in the bunkers which seems to be a premium these days especially in lower priced courses. I played on a week day which wasn't crowded but I can't speak about weekends. I'll definitely be back
What's with 5 some walkers?
Played on a weekday thinking it would go pretty fast. In front of us, there were TWO groups of 5 some all walking. If you are going to allow 5 some, how about making it a rule they must get carts?
Other than that, the staff were great and the course is pretty fairly maintained.
This is why golf is losing popularity.
It is extremely RARE that I leave a golf course early...but that day at Los Amigos was one of the worst.
Aside from the brand new golf carts and the nice new score card (the old one was basically an advertisement pamphlet that doubled as a score card), my experience this past Sunday was as horrible as can be. So bad, that I left after 9 holes which took 3 1/2 hours to play.
I always wonder just what these golf course managers are thinking when they try to squeeze 12 groups (some are fivesomes like the group ahead of mine) in one hour. Do the math. That's a group of golfers teeing off every 5 minutes. Do they really think no one will notice? This is no different than squeezing a 100 chickens in a coop that was designed for 10.
It will be a loooooooooonnnnnnng time before I ever go back.
Night & Day
This course is better than i've ever played it. This is the first, full size course i started playing 26 years ago, and it's always was a dump. But cheap and close to home. The improvements the new management has done are incredible. And they aren't done yet. It's already as good as Santa Anita. When i am looking for a practice round, i will come here. Yes the difference from what this course was just recently is "Night & Day".
17th green is great
The course was in very good condition. The service was great. New cart path excellent now you don't have to worry about dirt in your face
But I think only one thing that the course needs is a drink cart people do get thirsty out there. Other than that I really like the course now with the new renovation.
Needs a marshal
There was at least 2 groups waiting in front of my group after almost every round ,this was my second time playing here, same thing happened last time
Horrible Staff and terrible Greens
I would not go back to this Golf Course because of how the staff were treating me and how he will not return the 5 dollar deposit if not returned by 7:30. Also, the greens were under construction and did not even notifiy us. Terrible greens.
Making great strides.
Marshall's needed to improve pace of play. Twosome in front of us extremely slow, one of whom not ready for big course. Hole 17 shortened to 95 yes.
