You need to come play here
Let me start off by saying I pass on playing at least 5 golf courses that are closer for me to drive to, in order to play Oak Hills. I really like it here. The layout is interesting. Scenic. Great condition. GREAT value. The staff are the friendliest around. It's just a peaceful experience playing here, so I keep coming back. Totally worth playing.
Good conditions for Mid-December
I play Oak Hills10-12 times a year. It is a fun layout with some easy holes and a few very challenging greens. Pace of play is usually in the 3 hour range and the value for the cost is excellent. The greens were great for a winter round. I will continue keeping this on my courses I regularly play.
You should play here
I keep coming back here. Why? Read my recent previous reviews, that's why. More people need to come play here. Can't say enough about the condition, chill pace of play, the people that play here and work here. I could play "closer to home", but I drive a bit further because it's worth it. And with the golf now app - i paid $14 with a cart for 18 holes....on a Saturday. Play here at least once. You'll come back like I do ...
Oak Hills Golfing experience
The first thing that you notice when arrive at Oak Hills for your round of golf is how exceptionally friendly and helpful the staff and fellow golfers are. This was my 2nd time to play Oak Hills and it was a repeat of the first time.
Now for the course. It is a fair test of golf with some blind shots, uphill, downhill and sidehill lies interspersed with the blind shots with a uphill par 3 which will have to be played a few times to learn. The course requires a few times to learn to score well on but is worth coming back. Incidentally, they urged me to come back on Nov 11th (Veterans Day) for a free round of golf for all veterans. The only course I am aware of who extends this to our military veterans. Some have discounts but this is the only course that gives a free round. Kudo's to them for this gesture. All in all, a very enjoyable experience which I will be repeating.
Gorgeous setting
The crew at Oak Hills has done a great job of getting this course back into shape. Not a long course with many scenic views. Even with all the leaves this time of year, the crews have them cleared from the greens and fairways. You will not spend a lot of time searching for the ball. Outstanding staff! Super value.
You MUST play here
In great shape. Greens are in good shape and roll true. Very interesting holes, especially the par 3's. Very peaceful and scenic with very few homes to look at. Great NON RUSHED pace of play. The staff treats you like they are GLAD you chose to play here. Really accomodating. And $14 on the golf now app. I have several courses within a 30 minute drive that I could play. I chose to play here, over them.
You should play here
I loved the course. Very appealing layout. Peaceful feeling track. A few blind holes (if you've never played it before), so you just take a ride up the fairway so you can see where you want to go. It's in great shape. The greens run very true. The par 3's are very unique. The staff is first rate. If you want a great value, scenery, a track that's actually in good shape, and kick back pace of play - this is where you want to play.
Course with lots of slope
Considerable slope on this course with elevated fairways , greens and tees throughout. very few flat areas on course. Target golf required with water on several holes and numerous downhill or uphill tee shots an sidehill sloping landing areas. Also plenty of slope on greens and fast greens.
Challenging
Very upgraded since last played.earlier this yr. Greens and fareways in exellant shape. Long par 5;s and challenging Par 3,s. Staying in fareways on blind over the hills on par 4&5 holes will help ur game. Nice course layout but also plenty of water hazards.
Good fast round
Friendly staff including the grounds staff. . Not a long course but makes for a good pace of play. Course was firm (good for longer drives) and greens were slow( good for short putts) but it had been dry for several weeks in the area. I really like the holes on the back of the property. It feels like a getaway. They are working hard to make this a fun place to play. I enjoyed my round and I do suggest you at least give it a try.
Change it back
I really like this course. I liked it better before it was changed. The greens were a little rough but had just been airrated. I will be back.
Great for the money
Not a bad course to play, there is one hole a par 3 that the green doesn't look very good but overall this is not a bad course.. I would play it again
Fun, Hilly Course
Oak Hills has made several improvements to their course since last year. There were two tee boxes that were bare that have been sodded and are now in good shape. All 18 bent grass greens are in play. The hot summer weather has taken a toll on numbers 5 and 13, but generally the greens roll true and are in above-average shape (bent grass greens do not like hot weather).
There are a few bare spots here and there, but the Bermuda fairways have a good plush layer of grass on them.
I always enjoy playing here because the pace of play is usually good, and the staff is always friendly.
Worth the price
Challenging layout.Greens good,fairways average,tee boxes rough.For a rural course with a limited budget,the course is OK.Friendly staff.Will return.
We are glad you had a good time and we look forward to having you return.
The staff needs some help
The last time I played Oak hills was last summer and the course was in need of some help; but this summer the course is actually in really good condition. Although the older woman they have in the pro shop this summer does not need to be in there. It took her 15 minutes to ring up the guys coke in front of us and then it took her another 15 to ring us in. She kept apologizing which was nice but, no one wants to wait that long to be helped. By the time we made the turn, the younger girl who was in there last year was back in there. She's really sweet and was able to get us in and out in about a minute which was really nice. But for this to be just a little country golf course; it is in pretty good shape and the greens look better too!
Great time!
This Course the last couple of years has needed a lot of work done to it especially the greens, but this past time I played there which was back in June the course was in pretty good shape. The greens where looking better and the mold that was taking them over was almost completely gone. The staff was friendly too, but the woman behind the counter, was really slow and struggled quite a bit. She took awhile to get us rang up but Finally managed too, but turns out she charged us wrong because we had a hot deal, it wasn't a big deal and we just it's fine. The course is coming along very nicely
