Dirt and overgrown Clovers...yay! Photo submitted by PrettyPrettyGood on 06/13/2016
Oak hills condition
It has been over a year since I've played here. The course has been changed quite a bit on several holes due to selling some of their property. I wasn't a fan of the new holes and one of them on the front 9 was very confusing where to aim for the fair way. The course Tee boxes were pretty terrible, very little grass on about half of the tee boxes.
Oak Hills -- Yes, There are Hills
Probably the hilliest course I have ever played, and that's saying something -- I grew up playing a hilly course in Nashville.
Course condition -- the greens were smooth, soft, and receptive. The fairways, for the most part, had a good stand of Bermuda grass, but there were bare spots, especially on hole #6. Several tee boxes had suffered winter kill and were 50% bare.
Layout -- the front nine of this course has been altered due to the sale of some property to developers (the former hole #7 is now residences). The former hole #2, a killer par-5, has been split into a short par-3 and a par-4 (holes #5 & #6). SkyCaddie has not been updated, so it was difficult to discern yardages on some front-9 holes. The hilly layout created several blind shots.
My only complaint about this course is the back-nine par 3's, especially #16. A tiny, bare tee box tucked back in the trees, with a 150-yard carry over water, to a narrow green protected by water front and left, and trees right and back. There is simply no room to miss your tee shot here. And #13, a 96-yard par-3, appears as if they ran out of real estate after 17 holes and decided to place a tee box and green along the lake.
Local knowledge is a must. You have to know where and where not to hit the ball. I'll play it again simply to see how much better I score now that I have some familiarity with the course. And the beer is relatively cheap -- only $10 for a six-pack.
Terrible conditions
I've played town parks with more grass on them. Aside from the greens, which for the most part were in decent shape, most of the course is in abs9olute shambles. The fairways were littered with bare patches of soft dirt. What grass there was on the fairways was overgrown to the point where you couldn't tell the rough and fairway apart. The worst part was absolutely the tee boxes. See my attached pictures; there is barely any grass on most of the tee boxes. They are bumpy and bare. 2 of the Par 3's including the pics I took and attached were so un-hit-able that I just walked around until I found some spare grass to hit off of. In the attached pic you can see the tee box has absolutely ZERO grass. Its just dirt and some overgrown clovers. I hate coming on here to complain, but I say this for anyone like me who looks forward all week to escaping life's stresses on a golf course. If I could have my money, and beautiful sunny Sunday morning back I would. Go anywhere but here.
Very friendly staff and course wes in decent shape even though it had rained earlier in the day.
I will most likelly play this course again I liked the layout and the staff was very friendly
Nice staff and people
I have played here several times and enjoyed it each time. I would recommend it to my friends. If I lived closer I would join.
Let the search begin
After selling one of the holes on the course to developers, the owners have struggled to rearrange the course in a manner in which you can easily navigate 18 holes. An improvement in signage directing you to the next tee box would greatly help. The course features way too many blind holes where you have no idea where the green is located. Scorecards with pictures of the layout would help. That being said, it is a good round for the money and the staff is doing their best to improve the layout.
Great time. Waterfall lakes tall oaks
Had a great time. Beautiful course tall oaks waterfall lakes and beautiful greens
NEXT YEAR
NOT FAIR TO JUDGE NOW WHILE UNDER CONSTRUCTION. VERY BAD CONDITION. WILL WAIT TILL SPRING TO PLAY AGAIN
Dear Guest,
We understand that renovations can cause confusion during the grow in phase while playing a couple temp greens. We hope that you will come back later this spring when our dormant fairways start growing again and our two new greens are opened up. We still have more changes planned for late summer this year and we appreciate everyone's feedback during our course upgrades.

Bad time to play there.
Course is under major renovations. Will have to see how it is when it's done.
Decent experience.
The lady in the clubhouse gave me a full verbal walk-through of how the holes were arranged during construction. Challenging holes, with nice greens. The weather was cloudy and it rained the previous night. All in all a good experience. Wouldn't mind playing again, once the construction is complete.
OAK HILLS
Greens excellent but difficult
course undergoing modifications but still good
Beautiful Day and Great Course
With the price of this course me and my cousin figured it would end up being a very poor course but was not going to pass up the deal to play 18 and we had been looking to play at some courses that we had not before. Upon arrival we thought the course looked nice but could not tell much about it since it goes back a good ways. Entering the clubhouse, the staff was very friendly and willingly gave tips on a few of the greens. We enjoyed a nice 18 holes and had planned to visit another course we had never played but after enjoying the first round we decided to golf another round at Oak Hills instead. Overall, it was a great day and we ended up beating our best 2 man scramble score. We would both definitely recommend the course and we plan on visiting it again.
Great value
For the price this is a nice course. nothing fancy...just a an average course located 35 min north of Nashville if you're looking for something different.
Fun But call before golfnow
I booked this round through golfnow last minute, thought the course was fun and it does have a few challenges especially the par 3's over water.
I would recomend playing here, BUT before you book on GOLFNOW do yourself a favor and CALL THE COURSE. I've been noticing that although some courses they do provide a discount like advertised MOST COURSES ARE ACTUALLY CHEAPER WITNOUT THE "SERVICE FEE"
Birthday boy
My wife treated me to a day of golf at Oak Hills and it was marvelous. The clubhouse is not fancy, but that suited us fine. The staff is very friendly and the club pro met us at the first tee box as we were preparing to hit. He was very hospitable and explained the course to us. We love the course and will definitely return when we come back to Nashville. There is NO SAND, which is OK with us. My wife absolutely loves this course and cannot wait to return. We highly recommend Oak Hills for anyone. It is well maintained and very fair. Just a couple of holes with water to hit over. The price is definitely right and well worth the money. Thank you Oak Hills Golf !!
First time to play this fun course. It won't be the last.
I visited Oak Hills for the first time. It won't be my last visit. We played 27 holes in just over 4.5 hours on a Saturday afternoon. They have great rates and the replay is just $6 per 9 holes. I plan to add it to my regular course rotation. The main negatives were no true driving range (although there appeared to be a practice area if you bring your shag bag.) and a few bare spots on a couple of fairways and tees. The clubhouse is old, but that doesn't really matter to me. I don't spend much time inside. The staff was extremely friendly and polite.
Now to the course. There are several blind shots that will give you problems on your first visit. The second time we played the front nine we knew what to expect. #2 is a bear and a grizzly bear at that. It is a tight par 5 that is a real challenge. A couple of par 5's are very reachable in 2 and there is one par 4 on the back 9 that is reachable. The front nine has several very challenging holes and the back 9 was just a lot of fun to play. The greens were nice and rolled true. I hope to play this course many more times.
Oak Hills
The 2nd hole is the most challenging hole I've ever ever seen. Lucky to get out with a six.
Oak Hills in Greenbrier, TN
This is a great course. The greens are in super good condition. Well worth the trip and the money.
Will play again
My wife and I really enjoyed the round. We will play again. Almost had the course to our self.
Had one single came up and we let him play through.

Mr. Smith,
We greatly appreciate your feedback and we apologize for the confusion you had on the golf course during our renovation process.
We have received the new hole marker signs and they were installed last week. We still have not added directional signage but they are being produced.
We do have an up to date course layout on the back of our temp scorecards that we are using during the transition period.
We appreciate you coming out to give us a try and we encourage you to come back when we open the new greens in April.
Thank you again for your feedback!
