Fun, but challenging
Good layout. Good difficulty. Good shots rewarded. A few tricky water shots, especially a short par three. Fairways kinda bare. Small greens.
Good review with a low rating
I enjoyed my 18 holes at this course, but many wouldn't. The Tee-ing area was in August condition in a dry year (I played in April). The Fairways were in moderately poor condition. The roughs were in great shape. The greens were very good. The course is laid out well, with many interesting challenges. I played in just under 4 hours, behind a twosome who were behind a foursome. With a little better care (mostly water, I think), this would be a very good course. I had the impression that the greenskeeper is new and hasn't had a chance to turn it around yet. The staff was very friendly and helpful.
Love their layout, obviously in better shape earlier in season
Love this course. People are very very friendly and the holes are laid out in kind of a peculiar and fun way. It's pretty short, but fairly narrow. Only problem was that things weren't in great shape there. It's mid November and I paid 16.00 so I'm definitely not mad about it. Leaves everywhere in rough and fairways. Bring extra balls.
never book there again
Had a 8 am tee time. No one was there to open the course. We didn't get to tee off till 830 n even then was only because a regular hit us a cart. We had to pay at turn. Was not offered a discount or anything. Will NEVER play there again
Ok
Tee boxes: 3 out of 10
Fairways: 5 out of 10
Greens: 7.5 out of ten, at least 3 or 4 had terrible pin placements and/or weeds on the green. Greens were a bit small. Most did roll true. I would not drive all the way back up there unless I found the deal for $17 again.
Ok experience
The staff was friendly. The course is pretty wide open with the exception of a couple of holes. Very hilly. Greens are challenging. Good course for the money.
Course could be nice
Staff was great. Fairways were not really anything but cut rough. The green shad a great deal of crab grass. The tee boxes on most holes were not cut and were actually lumpy and not flat. The good is the people are nice and its a pretty place. But honestly, until they get the greens maintained, it clearly is not worth more than $20. A few greens were in good shape, so I think this course could improve, but right now its not one I would recommend
Pretty decent course
This course's conditions were pretty good overall. The one thing I didn't like is the fact that there are many greens on the course that you can't see until you are right up on them. So basically you are hitting blindly from many fairways. But all and all, good course, great staff, definitely worth the money I paid.
Way overpriced!
The course is not very well maintained. The layout is somewhat odd ,small greens. For the price there are much better courses to play locally.
Enjoyed the hills!
The staff and people were great. The course was challenging, but fair. The greens rolled nice, but you definitely want to play it few times to figure out where you need to be. It was fun. The only drawback was the play was very slow, hopefully due to the weekend.
Older course. Grass trimmings everywhere
I will not be back to this course. After we finished our round we went to the pro shop to return the cart keys and get our licenses back, however the pro shop was locked up and it took us 30 minutes to get in and get our licenses. The lady that worked in there was being dropped off at the front door as we were walking out.
Course has many different types of holes
Will play again, like the many different holes, doglegs, blind tee shoots, slanted greens, uphill and down hill fairways and greens, rough was very high and thick, greens not the best, a little bumpy but not terrible, first time playing but will be back.
Excellent course, fun and challenging
Great course to play for the beginner and the seasoned golfer, a lot of fun and staff was very nice
fun to play
Enjoyable to play except for the slow rate of play.Sloping greens made putting tricky for people use to fairly flt greens.
Good course for the money if you like hills.
The course is with a small country club that now allows the public to play. It is very hilly and has a lot of blind tee shots and shots to the greens. You need to play more than once to get familiar enough to know where to hit your ball. Be careful driving the carts, some pretty dangerous places with old carts. Over all, a very good course for the price. It is a nice day in the hills with very few homes affecting the feeling of being in the country.
I almost don't want to share how surprised I was at this course...
I just moved to Springfield from Hendersonville and thought The Legacy was my only option. It's a great option, but Oak Hills in Greenbrier is easier, in great shape, and I played 18 holes by myself in 2:15. I'm a mid-handicap player and shot an 83 yesterday. It reminds me of a mixture between Shelby's hills and the open layout of Windtree.
I'd recommend it to anyone in the area and can't wait to play it again.
Very Challenging
This is a pretty nice course. The greens were nice and fairways were recently cut. It played fast and hard. The par 3's were worse then the par 5's. But that's what I like about the course.
Not a bad little track
Nice course for intermediate players to work on their short to mid iron game. Not a long course by any means in that sense but the small greens and some blind shots will make you play target golf. I am not a long hitter at all and played from the blues. Had a really good time though. I would go back.
Overall, a nice, inexpensive day on the course!
The first four holes are difficult, ecspecially if you get above the hole. After that, this is a fairly normal country golf course. The clubhouse includes Amy's Grill! The cheeseburgers are a must at the turn. Great Value and a fun course to play!
doesn't need to be on golfnow
Course has interesting layout. It is in decent shape for an older country club. I drove an hour to get up there only to be told by the rude woman working in the clubhouse that I had to be done in two hours because they had a tournament scheduled. Then another guy that worked there took the time to ride out to ten tee box to remind me again that I had to be done by noon. I got behind a fivesome of locals on the third hole and they didn't bother to let me play through until the 9th hole. They need to just keep doing their thing there and not post any times on golfnow because they don't really want new people to come and check out their course.
