Summer Heat is Taking a Toll
I've posted several reviews of Oak Hills; most of them are favorable. I still like this golf course, but they've lost one green (#14), and several others are in bad shape. I played Oak Hills on July 4th weekend. It was amazing how much the greens have deteriorated in a 3-week span. I hope they take better care of the greens in August, and that they recover.
Good, but not great
I enjoyed playing my round until I got to the greens. They were covered in black patches and we’re bumpy. This was the case on most of the holes. Tee boxes and fairways were good. Will play here again but if there isn’t improvement to the greens I would be highly unlikely to return.
Terrible greens
Greens are basically unusable. Fairways and tee boxes are decent but me and my brother just picked up the ball once we were on the green because it was in such bad condition. Has potential if they took care of it.
Decent course, but greens in terrible shape
Have played this course a few times now, and I enjoy the layout in general the course was in good shape. However, there were a few of the blue tee boxes that had either not been mown, or were overgrown. Additionally, about half the greens were in TERRIBLE shape, where there were substantial areas of bare earth on the green, and as it had rained the previous night, some of these areas were just patches of mud, again, in the middle of the greens
Greens were in awful shape
I was here no longer than a month ago and the greens were in decent shape. Well I played yesterday and they were all in pretty bad shape other than maybe 2 or 3. The layout is cool but there are a lot of blind shots. Bert has some of the best bbq I've had so If you go play there make sure to stop in and try his food. But I won't be back unless the greens are repaired. Seems like they didn't water them for 3 weeks.
Pretty Good Round
The course was in decent shape. The greens were very soft and slow, but they didn’t appear to lack mowing. Some of the tee boxes were a tad rough probably due to lack of rain. The biggest issue was a very slow foursome in front of our threesome who apparently weren’t aware of the concept of letting faster players play through. This lasted the entire round as we weren’t able to pass them at the turn. A course marshal would’ve been helpful. Staff was very friendly and helpful otherwise.
Keeps getting better
Have played this course many times. It’s always been enjoyable but this was my first time back after several months and the improvements are notable! Greens are tricky but true. Fairways are full and in good condition. Rough areas can be pretty bare due to the amount of trees on the course but overall very happy with the overall quality. Only real negative is the condition of the tee boxes. Some were very bare and hard but there were signs of work being done to them so I’m excited to see them develop. Will continue to play this course many times over!
Hot day
course was in great shape, But it was extremely warm today! "Still better than being at the office"
Greatly improved
This course has improved greatly in the last couple years. Greens were in good condition, fairways were mostly nice. Tee boxes are currently in repair, but that is a good thing. They are actively trying to improve the course and that's all we can ask for. Clubhouse was fine, nothing too crazy, but does it's job. Staff was all nice, the starter was a cool guy! Had fun, will be back a lot.
The greens are equally as awful as the pace of play…
I’ve played/enjoyed this course many times over the years but each time the last 3-4 times I have played here have been less and less enjoyable. First off, if you are going to charge people nearly $50 to play then there’s a few things that should come with that. 1.) The greens shouldn’t be so long that you literally leave imprints with every step you take. 2.) If you’re willing to allow it to get as crowded as it was, have a ranger to at least act like y’all are concerned about pace of play (or a lack there of). 3.) Tell the one person that “runs” the “restaurant” that 1:00pm on a Sunday probably isn’t the best time to take an hour lunch break. The course conditions are awful at best, yet for whatever reason the green fees have doubled. At least one of the two parts of that equation needs to change dramatically before/if I’m going to be back to play
Divots
I loved this course but the greens were horrible. It seemed like every two feet there were huge ball divots . I spent most of my time on the greens fixing divots. One green had 22 alone.
