Ocala National at Golden Hills Country Club

Third time playing in the last 3 months and each time condition of the course was worse...

It was a challenge for my partner and I. The layout is interesting and challenging. We enjoyed it very much.

The course could really be a nice experience but the conditions were terrible. Not sure if they are going to be shutting it down - but it sure seemed like it.

If you miss the fairway you will never find your ball. Lots of overgrown areas. I felt like I was golfing in a forest.

Until they get a lawnmower, don’t waste your money here.

Pace of play was very bad. The rough grass was 6-8" long right off the fairway. Will not be playing this course again anytime soon.

Do not waste your time here ! Course is in the worst condition that I’ve ever seen! Lots of goose grass through the fairways and the rough is deplorable. Lost balls does not make for a fun day. Clearly no equipment and lack of maintenance. Superintendent needs to get this place under control.

Total waste of money. The first and second cut has not been cut in forever. Played 4 holes and went home. If you own a golf course and cannot keep the grass cut, "sell the course"!

Probably a great course in it's hay day. Worst course we ever played since moving to Florida. It appears they don't have any lawn mowers. There really is no rough. If you are off the fairways you have lost your ball. The grass off the fairways was about 6-8 inches tall on the day we played. The further off the fairways the longer the grass. I get being punished for not hitting fairways however this was not even close to US Open conditions. When I say we were off the fairway, I'm not talking about a wild shot, but any shot that even rolls off the fairway will be lost! There was no 1st cut, 2nd cut, etc....it went from weedy fairway to 8+ inches! This was strictly a lack of maintenance on the course. We almost left after the 4th hole and 15 unfound balls but stuck it out through the front 9. Having driven an hour to get here we continued on but by the 17th we were done and out of balls. Not sure if the course has a used ball business or just no staff and equipment. Would play again but only if we knew the upkeep was happening. Too bad, nice looking clubhouse and all, just was left behind by time and lack of management! I guess our first clue would have been being able to get a last minute prime time tee time on a Holiday for $30! You get what you pay for!

I love this place but you need to cut the rough. Please

Couldn’t find my ball even in the first cut. If you don’t hit fairways be prepared to lose balls.

When I played here there was evidently a problem with the mowing equipment that mowed the rough areas. If you hit your ballin the ruff I guarantee you you would not find it. I understand that the golf course is doing all they can to get their equipment replaced, I don’t hold this against the course. This Facility is usually near perfect This is merely a review of my last time playing, normally this course is a five star course

Spent too much time finding golf balls off the fairways. Our foursome had about 30% when all hit the fairways which are wide but when you missed the fairway the rough was really rough. You had to just about walk the area where you ball landed and hope you find the ball with your feet. One par 3 had rough deep enough to loose a ball and the ball landed within 25 feet of the green. Now part of the reason course conditions were what they were could be due to amount rain that we have had during the recent weeks. The greens are in great shape as they always are.
