Ocala National at Golden Hills Country Club

Greens were nice but tee to green conditions were awful.

Grass had not been cut .primary rough was 3 to 5 inches and secondary rough was knee high in areas.

The rough is ankle deep on every hole. The sand traps are unplayable. The tee boxes not cut. Greens good and fairways are ok. Won’t play again until conditions are improved.

My first impression was that the course was old and had not been kept up. The fairways had not been mowed for some time and the rough was so long I thought I was playing at the Open.I lost more balls on this course than my last four rounds combined.

I will not be playing this course in the future.

The greens were in very good condition. The rough was deep and thick. Bunkers need maintenance. The fairways were in decent condition, but any ball not on the fairway was difficult to find.

I’ve played here quite a few times and normally I don’t have any issues. But this time the rough was so thick you were unable to find any of your balls if you hit it there. Course held a lot of water but that was expected with the storm.

I play this course often and I never get tired of it. Some holes are easier but many are very challenging, which keeps me coming back.

How can you lose a ball 6 foot off the fairway? No sand in the sand traps. Greens were nice but very very slow. I won’t be coming back until they take care of these problems. It’s a shame they don’t take better care of this course.

Traps were not taken care of . Many had wash outs. Our group adheres to the rules, but after 3 holes decided any ball in the trap could be removed without penalty. Rough had not been mown for a long period. Finding a ball in the first cut of the rough was nearly impossible. Several balls were lost in the first rough cut. Greens had worm sand all over them. Very poorly maintained!!

Played this course several times always enjoy playing. Several local storms and excessive rain has damaged the course requiring attention. Course hadn’t been mowed was shaggy, bunkers damaged and flooded with water all unusual for this course. Recommend checking on mowing, cleaning debris and repairs prior to playing. We will return once repaired.

The greens were in very good shape…tee boxes were ok…fairways were ok…the rough was a jungle…uncut grass and a lot of fallen trees…lost more golf balls than I should have. Overall though a nice after.

Greens are tricky and little slow (to be expected in summer) but in great condition . I love the layout of this course and will definitely play it again !
