Well, it's cheap
Cheap to play. Odd layout. Poor conditions, can't even putt because of chunks if crab grass all over the greens
Good for a quick round
Course wasn't in great condition - very little definition between fairway, rough, tee and green. Greens were bobbly with large patches of weeds/longer grass.
It was a short course - 9 par 3's, 8 par 4's and one par 5. The par 5 was only around 430 yards. It was nothing challenging but fine for just a quick and easy round.
Trust your own vision/sense of yardage...couple of occasions the card and yardage posts by the tee conflicted.
Poor Maintence
Probably the worst course I have ever played. The greens were terrible, on most of the greens we just picked up knowing that no matter how good of a putt we made it was going to be affected by the crab grass that was growing out of control. But even with that being said, the course could still be enjoyable if a course marshal would be out there to ensure that players were teeing off to the correct holes and not allowing golf lessons to be taking place during a round that held other groups back.
Don't waste your time!
I am really surprised that golfNow would have this golf course on their list to choose from. I play golf about 50 to 60 times a year all around the United States, and this golf course is the worst golf course I have ever seen in my life.
Golf - Barely
Affordable Golf and that about all. 18 holes/par 64 course ( only one par 5, 8 par's 4 & 9 par's 3 ). only 4013 yards from the back tees. Tee boxes are in fair shape, Fairway's are in fair shape, Green's are in VERY poor shape. 80 to 85% sand. This is south Alabama, the Greens SHOULD be in much better condiction, late April, really folks! Course is hard to follow, not well mark and/or laid out. Saw groups teeing off from wrong tee boxes or playing to wrong greens.
Alright for the Cost
My wife and I are seniors and were looking for a shorter, less busy course to play on this particular day and this course fit the bill (4000 yards from back tees). Neither the fairways nor the greens were in great shape but nonetheless we found the course entertaining, and considering what it cost us by booking through Golf Now, just fine for what we wanted, our level of play and where we were staying e.g. 15 minutes away from Gulf Shores.
" GET SOME GREENS " & " THEY WILL COME " !
I am writing this review, in hopes , that the "RIGHT" people can take some Constructive Criticism, and Go down to the Local Hardware Store and Pick-up some "GRASS SEED", shut down (9) holes at a time, for about (2) weeks, offer a special rate during that time, and "GET THE GREENS BACK"!!! its a shame, because this could be a "EXCELLENT" " EXECUTIVE STYLE" GOLF COURSE ! Perfect for a fast round for the Exec"s, Walker"s, Children starting out, Mom and Pa , in a word,"everyone" who plays the Game and Likes a Good Challenge! Has a Great Layout and enough par 4's and a par 5 to test your skills. i live nearby and would play this numerous times in a month.
Greens were rough
You can't beat the price ($9.00 + GolfNow fees) but the bermuda greens were just not in any kind of shape at this time (early April). Made putting almost impossible. Tee boxes and fringe area around greens were in poor shape also. Decent but short course layout. Weather and low cost made it a good day. Maybe things get ramped up in the late spring and summer.
Consider it practice
Greens were in terrible shape, worst I have ever played. like the title says, it should be considered a practice round.
Do NOT play here
I've played a bunch of courses and I'm not really that picky on quality but this is hands down the worst course I've ever played. There was zero effort in maintaining or upkeeping this course. For a course to be in a resort area, the bunkers were mud and not raked at all, there was obviously very poor irrigation because of pools of water (not ponds) in random areas of the course as well as sogginess around all greens--it hadn't rained the previous 5 days--and worst of all was the greens. There was barely any grass at all, they were brown and dead, with holes and craters on every green. It was basically like putting on a bumpy fairway or a temporary green you see in the winter. And then on #5 the cart died from lack of charging. I've never walked off a course without finishing but my 3some got to #7 and couldn't take it anymore. It was intolerable conditions and it just wasn't golf. They actually have a sign saying you cannot hit driver because there are houses lining the fairway of a par 5....what?! It's sometimes understandable for management to charge less when they know their course is poor, but they charged $28!! If you're wanting to play a cheap course don't make the mistake of going here. GolfNow should definitely consider dropping this course from their website it is so awful.
OVER CHARGED NO REAL FAIRWAYS
FIRST I AGREED TO A PRICE OF $24 ON GOLF NOW THEN WHEN I GOT TO THE COURSE I WAS CHARGED $26. THE SO CALLED FAIRWAYS WERE SMALL CLUMPS OF WEEDS AND THE OCCASIONAL CLUMP OF GRASS, THIS ALSO GOES FOR THE BUMP LADEN '' GREENS''
