No vacation
I had played this course last year and thought I had discovered a neat/nice little place to get a quick 18 in while on vacation. This year, things were drastically different. Part of my vacation each year is to play a round by myself. I do this so, I can play at my own pace without worrying about others but, mainly so I can have a peaceful quiet round... something I rarely get to do with my work schedule. Unfortunately, I was unable to relax as I found my early morning peace side barred for player throughput which made no sense. I arrived at 7:10am for a 7:50am tee time. I was informed upon check-in that I was being placed with complete strangers. Mind you, I was supposed to be by myself. My relaxed quick 18 turned into a much slower, grueling round where I had to play at others pace. I objected with the Marshall and he talked to me as if I were a child. He had a "Because I said so", attitude. I objected to the clubhouse and they gave me excuse after excuse. Essentially, a large amount of people who had later tee times decided the heat was too much for them and they convinced the club personnel to condense over a hundred people into the first 3 hours of the day. No communication was given to me. No other options made available. Due to this shoulder shrugging type of customer service, I will not be playing here again.
Good $50 course
I live one block from this course, but never play it cause it’s overpriced and no local special.
Got a hot deal and played on an empty course.
Fairway good, greens bumpy and hard to make a put from any distance.
Over all very nice for as dry as it has been
New to area..first time at GSG
Just moved from TX to Fairhope area recently and getting acquainted with local courses. GSGC has a great layout, extremely friendly staff, and cart service on the course. While many of courses in the area could some much needed rainfal the course played well. Pace if play good (but it was 108 heat index). Will return for sure.
My go to course each year
Fairways are great. Tee boxes are good. Greens roll true. Only a few greens with some bare spots, but did not come into play.
Staff is always friendly and helpful.
Good Course
The day was warm and a little windy. I liked the layout, we played the white tees about 6000 yds. Some of the holes are sneaky long. Bring your sand game, fairway bunkers and around greens. Had a nice time will play it again next year..
Very Enjoyable
Very helpful and friendly staff, especially the starter. The course has a great layout, and is in very good condition.
Excellent amenities.
Decent and Enjoyable
Despite having some bare spots in a few fairways and some issues with Poa Annua on and around some of the greens, we enjoyed our round. Price is somewhat steep, but I really didn't mind paying it.
