The 18-hole Gulf Shores Golf Club (formerly known as Golf Club of The Wharf) in Gulf Shores, Alabama is a public golf course that opened in 1963. Designed by Earl Stone, the previously named Gulf Shores Golf Club went in 2005 through a renovation that lengthened the course by 300 yards. Where’s the groundskeeper?

I have golfed this course many times and consider it my favorite in Gulf Shores. That said, while the fairways were in good shape and the greens had been aerated, the landscaping was horrendous. I always remember this course being beautifully manicured. This time there were weeds growing everywhere in the landscaping, around the restrooms, and even up the side of the clubhouse. While none of this affected our play, it was disappointing to see the course going in the wrong direction. Hopefully this was just bad timing and it will be improved next time I play.

Nice and challenging course

While vacationing in the area I chose to play here. This was my first time playing this course and I was very pleased with the overall experience. Staff were really friendly and helpful. Nice and challenging course with fast, variable sloping greens. Like someone else mentioned a few reviews before this one - a few of the greens had some minor imperfections but not enough to affect play or lower my rating of the course.

Free, unlimited balls at driving range is a plus.
