Lakes/Canyon at Blacklake Golf Course

I like the course and most of the greens are in good condition exceeding those at nearby Rancho Maria and Avila Beach. The staff, especially the young lady named Clairissa are exceptionally friendly and efficient. Perhaps the best in the area and right up there with those working at nearby Monarch Dunes golf course. I would like to see the fairways cut shorter and the cups locations changes more often. Overall very good place to play golf.

Fun but slow group in front of us. Marshall followed us for a few holes. Never told group ahead of us about pace or multiple tee shots on every hole. Fun course. Good value

Blacklake has a cool layout. The greens are pretty smooth but play a little slow. The tee boxes and fairways need mowing and grooming. Lots of duff left on the fair way fringes. Some challenging and rewarding holes! The clubhouse had good food, music and relaxed vibes. Overall great experience and worth checking out.

Actually a nice layout and several well designed holes. However, course in total disrepair. Clover in fairways and un-mowed tees. Greens better than rest of course but still well below average. Too many much better options in the area. Very disappointing

The entire course lacks routine maintenance/mowing, some tee boxes were mostly dirt..

Slow pace of play.

Practice area was closed & putting green was in rough shape.

Tall trees really creat a beautiful landscape and you need to shape your shot to get through.

Common issue at Central Coast coarses, too many gopher holes and the tee boxes need maintanace.

Clarissa who was in the pro shop was so nice and very efficient. Perhaps the best I have encountered in the great many courses that I have played over the years.

The greens are well above average which is most important, but the fairways could use a closer mowing. The three 9 holes courses are all different and challenging. I like this course and rate it as one of the better courses in the area.

I'm visiting the in laws and wanted to get out and play somewhere close to where we are. This course was the closest and the price was right for me. The course is challenging, I'm a 17 handicap, but very fun despite some rough conditions here and there. If you're out to have a good time and have a good group with you, you're in for a good time.

The layout of this course is very good. The greens were in fairly good shape rolled good, but the fairways are as rough as rough can be. You need a kidney belt to drive down any fairway!

Decided to play this course after a long time usually play other courses in the area when I visit.

* Starter not to friendly or welcoming

* Asked for a cup of ice in restaurant was refused when asked why was told management does not want to encourage out side beverage!

* Front nine ruined by heavy maintenance work vey loud leaf blowers

* Over all a very boring dated course layout not one hole stood out as a challenge.

* Very poor tee conditions, fairways not much better

* Very dirty golf carts and course restrooms, no water on the course ball washers were dry

Not often do I place a review however, I have noticed that courses in the middle of a nice community such as Blacklake, do not present a good product since they have a local captive client base. if you are visiting the arera or a local, Play Cypress Ridge or Monarch Dunes for a great experience!

This has always been one of my favorite courses to play. Looks like someone has decided to keep it in decent condition. 😄

I would give the course a better rating if they would just mow the grass! The fairways and tee boxes were shaggy, the rough and fringes were cut inconsistently. The greens were bumpy but mostly because nobody repairs their ball marks, not really the fault of the maintenance staff.

Pace of play was good for a weekend round .Fun to play but could easily be much nicer.

The greens were a bit bumpy and worn in spots, and the fairways were about what you’d expect from a public course. That said, our twosome finished in just over three hours, which made for a great pace of play. We scored a Hot Deal for $36, and at that price, any minor course-condition issues were easy to overlook. We played the Lake/Oak combination, and the Oak course definitely had the better greens.

Play at Blacklake multiple times a week. Usually never any problems. This week we had reservations and upon arrival there were no carts ready as we had one in our reservation. Told to come back in 15 mins. No problem. Couple behind us signed in a cart showed up at that time. So they got to play and we waited instead of being notified we should be next. We were outside of clubhouse having drinks and a few ppl got on before we did with carts. Once we went back in we got put on a “ next “ list. Just sucked being delayed 20 mins when tee times after us got on. Still fun and will be back. I would not of wrote this but I was asked to review my experience so here it is.
