Lakes/Oaks at Blacklake Golf Course
About
Situated along California's Central Coast atop the Nipomo Mesa, Blacklake Golf Resort offers three different nines, each named after the different attributes of the beautiful landscape. The nines can be played in three different 18-hole combinations. Players of all skill levels will be able to find a golf course that suits them. The Lakes/Oaks Course begins with the most player friendly of the three nines. Though as the name implies, water does come into play but the fairways are wide and forgiving. The opening par-3 hole gives you a confident start but the length keeps it from being a pushover. The Oaks nine features narrower fairways that wind through groves of coastal oak trees. It is a more target-style layout where you may find yourself in the woods if you're not paying attention.

terrible pace of play
They had two women’s clubs on the course and after the first hole I went back to the starter to see if I could play another course and was denied. I had to skip 3 holes on the front nine to prevent it from being a 6 hour round.
Course condition
The course layout is excellent. Unfortunately the maintenance of the course is lacking. The greens were in pretty good
Mow the fairways please
I just can't get over the lack of maintenance at this course.
Last fall when they aerated the greens, I putted on greens with holes and not one spec of sand to fill them.
Now, the fairways are completely unmowed. Lost multiple balls in the over 3" deep clover, flowers and grass -- I was NOT in the rough - center fairway.
New experience
Nice course and interesting layout. The rough is that on deed. The trees and some narrow fairways make it interesting. Private setting.
Good Value Course
Have played here a few times, been able to experience all 27 holes. If you play in the afternoon (or on a hot deal), the value for this course is solid. Fairways aren't in the best shape, but certainly playable, especially if you are okay with moving your ball a little from where it landed. It's hard to beat $30 for 18 with a cart, and at that value, this is one of our go-to courses in the area.
Crowded course
Play was slow, mens club was on the course.
I went out by my self and had to wait on nearly every hole.
Why?
Why are the owners or management company trying to kill this golf course. It's better than not playing but not by much.
Fun round at Blacklake
First time playing at Blacklake in the 2 years I’ve lived in the area. I wasn’t expecting a lot because of bad reviews I’ve read on GolfNow and word of mouth regarding course conditions. Before booking today’s round I read more recent reviews that course conditions have improved. I couldn’t beat the price so I booked the round. I was pleasantly surprised and thoroughly enjoyed the round. I was advised to start on the Oaks course and finish on the Canyon course. Since I was playing as a single the pro shop staff said I could tee off early before a foursome that was ahead of me. The pace of play was excellent with no one in front of me in the front 9. I caught up to a foursome on the 11th hole and they very nicely told me I could play through. I would rate the condition of the tee boxes as average, the fairways as below average and the greens as average to slightly above average. The course layout was challenging and fun. It is an easy course to walk compared to others in the area. Overall I would recommend this course and will be back!
Blacklake Golf Course making a comeback? The
My son and I played Blacklake Golf Course yesterday for a grand total of $40. Wasn’t sure what to expect as last time we were there it was in pretty rough shape. We were pleasantly surprised with the condition of the course. I would highly recommend getting out there soon.

4/5
Not the best tee boxes, not the best fairways, greens were mostly good. But you get what you pay for , great value for the price.
Great deal
Blacklake was a fun course to play. I did not realize there are 27 holes. I played 18 and I'm looking forward to playing the the other 9 holes in the near future. Staff at the pro shop was friendly too!
Overall maintenance and course conditions have been declining over recent years.
