Golfer Reviews
Hunter Ranch
Arrived to find, sadly, a youth event in progress. Play was very slow. Fairways are are rutted with huge ground squirrel holes. Some bunker sand was "welded" in place, like hard concrete. I thought I'd damage my wedge. Par 3 tee boxes were destroyed. Clearly, they get no attention. It was hard to find grass to hit from. There are no cart paths....just duty rutted "trails". Greens were in good shape but no one fixes their ball marks.
Find a better option in Paso Robles.
Horrible condition for the price
Super nice people. Great restaurant for breakfast or lunch and great drinks, but the course conditions don’t warrant the greens fees. It’s not worth more than $50-$75 per person and that is a stretch tbh.
Central Coast's Best
First time playing Hunter Ranch, first off Ernie in the pro shop was very helpful and super friendly!
Course was in great condition, greens fairly fast, need to play it again soon!
Course Knowledge Needed
Hunter Ranch is a challenging course. It is difficult to get Pars and easy to get high numbers. Lots of brush, dirt and slopes along the fairways and greens. Course knowledge really helps so I would recommend playing with somebody who has played there before they give you tips and warnings regarding where to hit the ball and what’s coming up as far as hazards are concerned. Solid, tricky course. Great service from the staff. Next time I’m in the area I definitely take another shot at Hunter Ranch.
A bit odd
The course was in decent shape and the greens were rolling good. The layout was challenging, and a bit difficult to understand where to hit the ball. Without the mapped GPS in the carts, it could have been a real struggle. The cart paths are only partially paved, the rest are dirt so we had a lot of dust to breathe in. The way finding has little to be desired. The experience for people new to the course would be better with more directional signage.
Hidden gem
I really love this course that is so well maintained despite the rustic and woodsy area that surrounds the area.
Beautiful course in great condition
Nice course with good variety of holes and hazards. Would have given 5-stars if they didn’t charge my non-player gf a $28 ride-along fee.
