It is almost a links golf course
The layout of Hunter Ranch is good. The front is challenging, but far easier than the back nine.
I'm sure the back nine wouldn't be easier the 2nd time around, but still challenging.
The course is walkable, but you need to be in shape to walk 18.
If I'm in the area, I will definitely play Hunter Ranch again.
Nice But Weird
Front 9 has a great layout. Back 9 is not so user friendly. Course management needs to figure out a way to create more visibility on blind shots; cut down trees, especially the one on 18. Not a course for the average golfer who will lose 24 balls, spend countless minutes looking for thier ball if they miss hit it.
Greens are pure. Fairway are nice. Bunkers are nice. With the expensive rates I recommend leveling out the tee boxes so at least you have a flat lie to start each hole.
I won’t be going back until they change some things. Great pit stop for a road trip to take a leak or drop a deuce though.

Great conditions around the fairways and greens the group in front of us slow players but Marshall is around to keep pace.
Hot
Played on a pretty hot day / course was dried out with lots of roll on your ball / greens were fast / restaurant only open until 4 pm / starting time was 11:50 / could not finish in time to eat / used points from GolfNow or it would have been too much money for this course
Nice Nice...Nice
Well groomed golf course. Receptive greens that are firm, reasonably fast and fairways in great shape.
Great app!
Love this app. Great deals for very top knot have courses. Will always use this app every time I golf!!!
Great track
I have played here a handful of times. It’s a must if you’re visiting the Paso area. Not a super long course but it play difficult.
4/10 Golf Outing
The course was in beautiful condition and the weather perfect. I meet my son here as it's half way between LA and SF and had a totally great time with him at Hunter Ranch.
Course is nice
Course was clean. No two holes were the same which is about as good of a quality as a course can have in my book. Charging $38 per player to add on an extra nine at 5:30 on masters Sunday when the course was empty was about the worst quality a course can have. I'll be back but my day definitely went from a 10 to an 8 after that.
Very nice course
I was impressed with this course. There are many elevation changes and spectacular views of the surrounding vineyards that stretch for miles against a mountainous backdrop. The greens were fast and manicured clean, no brown or bare spots to be found. The front nine is mostly forgiving with wide fairways, the back nine more challenging with tighter fairways and hazards to negotiate. Only downside, I wouldn't put this course in the $110 category. For $70 - $80, definiitely worth it. I do recommend the course itself and would gladly play again for the right price.
Nice course, but some frustration
The tee boxes, fairways, greens all in very good shape. The fringes around some of the greens were absolutely perfect. Several elevation changes and beautiful views. My only complaint is lack of information. No pictures on the scorecard or at the tee box providing a layout of the hole. Yardage not clearly marked at all. Several times I wondered where to go to find the next hole, and ended up in the path of other players shots. The course itself was beautiful, in very good condition, a great value for the money. Nice bar/restaurant and friendly service. My only complaint is the layout/logistics which were confusing since it was my first time playing the course.
