The Battleground at Deer Park

About
Created as a tribute to Texas' battle for independence, The Battleground is more of a links-style course that is burdened by the wind and tricky because of the abundance of water (14 holes). Despite its links flavor, the fairways are narrow, and they're lined by thick rough.
Providing sort of a golf experience/history lesson combined into one day, each hole is named after some significant person, item, or event in the Texas fight for independence. For example, one hole is named Sam Houston, while another is named after a pair of twin cannons: Twin Sisters.
No. 8 is one of the signature holes, a 175-yard poke over the water to a green that is shared with the par 5 No. 1. A waterfall accents the edge of the lake, providing a unique aesthetic.
On the back, the finishing hole is fun because you can play aggressively off the tee, free of major hazards in the landing area that is framed by mounding. The approach must carry water, and you'll need to take an extra club because the green is elevated.
Getting there : From Houston, take Hwy. 610 and loop around the city to Hwy. 225 east. Take the first Deer Park exit and turn right onto Georgia St. Next, drive 1 mile to the course, and look for the entrance on the right side of the street.

Nice day
Overall the course is good shape, bunkers need some work but all in all a great place for a round
More of a fishing, bike ridding place than a golf course
There are so many people fishing the ponds and so many non-golfers bike ridding and walking on the paths- not safe to play there- very high risk of a ball hitting someone. No marshal or any staff seeing out there. Won’t play again, too risky, especially in pm.
Overpriced and Horrible pace of play.
Fairways were ok. Some were in decent shape others were not. Greens were the same story. We had a twosome in front of us that took at least two second shots per player, per hole. I haven’t played a 4.5 hour round in a long time. That was definitely the case at battle ground. Feel like they could have done a lot with the course. It could be a $50 course if they kept it in good condition. It’s a cool facility. I probably wouldn’t go back.
Not good
Pictures on here are deceiving. Fairways are burnt, the way they are mowed is brutal. Some greens were good, some were bad, some were really bad. First time playing this course, hard to navigate if you don't know where you're going. This is not a $50 course.

Greens in best shape that I have seen in a couple years. Fairways firm due to lack of rain lately. Overall 8 out of 10 for course today.
Easy Course
Staff and Marshals were all extremely friendly people. Greens played well and the fairways were in decent shape. This is a very easy course. Very simple layout and all the holes were shorter distance wise than I have ever played.
Course was in great shape really enjoyed my round today whoever is the superintedent he is doing a great job he really turned this course around since the ladt time I played there
This course has challenges.
Greens were in good shape except for #6. They were recently aerated so a bit slow. Overall nice course. I've seen it in worst shape. Getting better.

Stiil a long way to go
Greens are better but far from good. Fairways were so long there were places you couldn't tell any difference between the fairway and first cut of rough. Pace of play was good because nobody was in front of us, finished in 3.5 hours.

Kick out before we could finish
I booked a tee time at 4:04pm. We played a descent game had to wait a couple of time on players in front of us. When we were finishing up the 17th hole getting ready to play the 18th the club stuff made us stop and said they needed the carts back that we couldn’t finish the last hole. They were very rude and unprofessional about it. We paid for a whole round and they couldn’t let us finish very disappointed. The course was not I. The best of shape either greens are very slow and the fairways look like they haven’t been watered in a while. Would recommend you spending money else where.

Course in fine condition greens are slow
Fairways are good, greens are good but really slow this time.
It was too hot to be crowded, that's what happens here in August.
