The Battleground at Deer Park

About
Created as a tribute to Texas' battle for independence, The Battleground is more of a links-style course that is burdened by the wind and tricky because of the abundance of water (14 holes). Despite its links flavor, the fairways are narrow, and they're lined by thick rough.
Providing sort of a golf experience/history lesson combined into one day, each hole is named after some significant person, item, or event in the Texas fight for independence. For example, one hole is named Sam Houston, while another is named after a pair of twin cannons: Twin Sisters.
No. 8 is one of the signature holes, a 175-yard poke over the water to a green that is shared with the par 5 No. 1. A waterfall accents the edge of the lake, providing a unique aesthetic.
On the back, the finishing hole is fun because you can play aggressively off the tee, free of major hazards in the landing area that is framed by mounding. The approach must carry water, and you'll need to take an extra club because the green is elevated.
Getting there : From Houston, take Hwy. 610 and loop around the city to Hwy. 225 east. Take the first Deer Park exit and turn right onto Georgia St. Next, drive 1 mile to the course, and look for the entrance on the right side of the street.

Horrible greens a
You’d think for 50 bucks you would have better greens and some dang water coolers. I know it’s a pandemic but it’s also Texas.

Great course but greens need TLC
Great course but greens need much needed care. I would say also the grass on sides of fairway could be cut a little lower. Overall I enjoyed my game.

Greens are freshly sanded, and very slow rolling. Otherwise the course is in great shape.

Blocked a review
I gave a honest review for this course and I guess it wasn’t what they wanted to hear cause my review has not shown up. Course layout was not for us. It’s kinda hard to duck and tee off at the same time. Something to take note of. If the course requires you to sign a waiver after you pay, you probably want to rethink playing there.

Course not for me
Course is very confusing and right on top of each other. First time in my life I was timid going up to my ball cause that meant I had to get out of the cart where balls were landing feet from you. Very tense course and people are skipping holes coming up on you when driving asking to get in front of you and I was just waiting 10mins to tee off. Course was not for me or wife.

Great course layout!
The course layout was awesome. Very easy to follow and posted signage for convenience. I played on a Sunday morning and the back 9 were pretty wet and had some slight standing water, but there had been thunderstorms all week so you can’t blame them too much.

Wet course
1 Due to the stormy weather fairways were little damp or wet but overall Course played OK greens agr trv a little high due to the rain could notnd slow.

Wet day and muddy
Course was covered with water on walkways and boggy grass. Ball died when touched grass. Still a great day. Greens where in good shape

Nice course.
Tee boxes are HARD. Course layout is very nice. Got lost between green 4 and teebox 5. Need to cross the road. My bad for not looking over the layout before venturing out. Beside the heat and humidity, the course is FUN!!!

Nice course
Mostly the course was in good shape, but the tee boxes need watering to soften them up and one green has very little grass on it.

Dead Greens
Has about 5 or 6 holes with a good amount of dead grass on the green. But hole 6 par 3 is absolutely terrible condition unplayable. Over 60% of the green is dead grass and just plain sand.

Great course
Course is nice, they have canopies on the carts to keep your. clubs from getting wet. Overall, a good course.

Nice track
Staff not too helpful or friendly! But course in very good shape!! Greens very beautiful but extremely slow!! Would love to go back when faster! Water on most holes but scenery very nice!!

Good course
Very nice course for the price. In pretty good shape greens a little slow and a few dead spots. But otherwise great condition and very enjoyable round. Played in less than 3 hours on Tuesday morning

Above Par.
Really enjoyed the layout of the course. Had a group behind us that pushed through early and rushed us on the front 9, but overall great course. Greens were hit or miss, some dry and fast, others were wet and slow. Will be back for more.
