The Battleground at Deer Park
About
Created as a tribute to Texas' battle for independence, The Battleground is more of a links-style course that is burdened by the wind and tricky because of the abundance of water (14 holes). Despite its links flavor, the fairways are narrow, and they're lined by thick rough.
Providing sort of a golf experience/history lesson combined into one day, each hole is named after some significant person, item, or event in the Texas fight for independence. For example, one hole is named Sam Houston, while another is named after a pair of twin cannons: Twin Sisters.
No. 8 is one of the signature holes, a 175-yard poke over the water to a green that is shared with the par 5 No. 1. A waterfall accents the edge of the lake, providing a unique aesthetic.
On the back, the finishing hole is fun because you can play aggressively off the tee, free of major hazards in the landing area that is framed by mounding. The approach must carry water, and you'll need to take an extra club because the green is elevated.
Getting there : From Houston, take Hwy. 610 and loop around the city to Hwy. 225 east. Take the first Deer Park exit and turn right onto Georgia St. Next, drive 1 mile to the course, and look for the entrance on the right side of the street.

6-25-18 Review
Course was in good condition after recent rains and for a public course.
Greens and on course staff
Greens they say are at 9.5 speed which is rubish. Greens were not cut, very slow and difficult to putt on. The greens were at best maybe 5 on stimp.
On course staff member kept on interrupting my game, telling me what shots to play and tagging along as we played.
good golf
We play Battleground once or twice a week, weather permitting. We enjoy the course because the staff is extremely friendly, fair and helpful, the course is usually in good condition ( right now in excellent condition), the course favors Seniors, the amenities are nice and enjoyable, it is fun to play and the price is very affordable. Great value!!
Battleground Golf
As usually we had a Great Day at Battle Ground Golf Course! Service is always great, course was above average. And the Greens were also Above Average. So much better than last year this time of year. Thanks to the groundkeepers staying after whatever wasn't agreeing with the Greens last year! Good NO Great Job-Thanks

The greens were good but a little slow. The bunkers needed to be raked. Pace of play could have been better. I saw no Marshall at all.
Great value, slow play
Course is in great shape, for a $24 hot deal can’t beat it. Driving range can be a tad bit torn up, but it’s a high volume course. Pace of play was slow, took us around 5 and a half hours to complete our round. Still a great time, would definitely recommend this course, and will be back again possibly on a weekday!
Nice course to play
We were having a great time until we caught up to a 6 some that were rude and would not let our 3 some play thru. We talked to the clubhouse but they did not do anything about it.
Great condition
Fairways and green were in great shape. Pace of play also great.
Green a little rough
The course layout and fairways were great, lots of water hazards. Greens were bumpy and sand traps lacked sand.
Nice day
It was a nice day to play considering the heavy rain the night before. Greens weren’t in the best shape but it was understandable. Courteous foursome let us play thru.
Course
Only thing I would say that the tee boxs where like cement and the greens could have been smoother
Great Golf Course
Wonderful course. Pace of play was excellent. Will be back again.
Excellent
Just a great course and free lunch was a super meal.
