About
Created as a tribute to Texas' battle for independence, The Battleground is more of a links-style course that is burdened by the wind and tricky because of the abundance of water (14 holes). Despite its links flavor, the fairways are narrow, and they're lined by thick rough.
Providing sort of a golf experience/history lesson combined into one day, each hole is named after some significant person, item, or event in the Texas fight for independence. For example, one hole is named Sam Houston, while another is named after a pair of twin cannons: Twin Sisters.
No. 8 is one of the signature holes, a 175-yard poke over the water to a green that is shared with the par 5 No. 1. A waterfall accents the edge of the lake, providing a unique aesthetic.
On the back, the finishing hole is fun because you can play aggressively off the tee, free of major hazards in the landing area that is framed by mounding. The approach must carry water, and you'll need to take an extra club because the green is elevated.
Getting there : From Houston, take Hwy. 610 and loop around the city to Hwy. 225 east. Take the first Deer Park exit and turn right onto Georgia St. Next, drive 1 mile to the course, and look for the entrance on the right side of the street.

Average conditions
The greens were in rough shape in places, guessing from the recent freeze. Some of the t-boxes were in really bad shape. Good bargain for what we paid, I'll be back.
Loved it
Loved the lunch, drink, and round of golf package deal.
Poor etiquette
Slow play due to 5 some in front of us and no invite to play through. No marshal today.
Great time
We had the first tee time out; carts are always out front and ready to be used. Tee boxes and greens were in good condition. Fairways were decent also considering the weather we’ve been having. Will definitely play this course in the coming months.
Good value
For the price, Battleground was a good value.
Some spots in the greens needed work, but rest of the course was in average shape, or better, for this time of the year.
I have played here off and on for over 20 years and I have seen the course in better condition and know that management is always working to fix things up when needed. I’ll be back again.
Good Value and a Fun Challenge
The course offers a good challenge for your game. And I like that the designers provide a relatively easy first hole to help give golfers a warmup hole. The golfers there are mostly courteous enough to let faster player pass through.
Course in bad shape
I've been playing battleground for the past three years. I've seen it in very good condition. And I've played it as they list all of their greens about 1.5 years ago. Sad to say, it looks as if they are losing their greens again. Every green is in terrible condition. Several bunkers are trash and most of the tee boxes are also in disrepair. I like the course layout and I really hope they get it together.

Slow play for winter golf
The course was good, but pace of play (5.5 hours for 18 holes) was very bad for a Sunday that wasn’t very crowded or busy. Started early, 10:30am but two fivesomes in front of my group of three should not have been allowed on weekend. Course marshal was useless in directing/allowing to play through or speed pace up at all.

This is a great course as usual but it was a little too wet on the tee boxes and fairways this particular day
Battle Ground is back
Its been awhile but the greens are back to excellent as is most of the course. The tee box's need some help but since my ball is on a tee who cares.

Great time. Course was in excellent condition. Burgers were terrific!

Was on the course for 5 hours never saw a Marshall and the course was over booked finally finished and was glad to get off the course
