The Battleground at Deer Park

People were friendly and Professional. Good looking golf course. They have good options on food, drink, and green fees. Overall enjoyed my first visit Battleground golf course in Deer Park Texas.

Really enjoyed round. Course layout is relatively simple but lot of water hazard makes difference. Easy course for straight hitters.

I really wish there are more yard markers on the course.

The course has definitely been worked on in the last few years. The tea boxes are improved and greens are definitely better than they were the last time I've been. I live in spring and drove to Deer Park and it was definitely worth the drive .

The greens were bumpy, but in fairness,

they're changing from winter to spring.

The main bugaboo w/ this course is that the sand traps are awful. Many were not even raked (and probably han't been for a while) but ALL of them have the same problem, i.e., not enough sand. There is just a very slim layer of sand--and no matter how far you hit behind the ball, the club hits the underlying clayey matl. and just slides right up to the ball causing one to hit it way past the pin!

Haven't played Battleground in almost 2 yrs. They are getting their stuff together. I will be coming back again. Staff was extremely nice. I will be putting this course back in my rotation. Glad to see it back in good shape. Keep it up guys.....

I live inside the loop and have played most of the public courses in the Houston area. I consider Battleground one of the best values in the area. Being located away from the bigger suburbs around Houston, this course gets less traffic than most, which means quicker rounds, cheaper rates, and easier to get tee-times. It's become my go-to for busy weekend golf. Staff is friendly and conditions are great for the price. My only complaint is that all the par-3s are around the same yardage. Nevertheless, the layout of the course is excellent given the flat terrain of the area.

I really enjoy this course. It is demanding and there are several elevation changes. The fairways are mostly tight and the greens are perfect. Play smart and you will have a great time. The snack bar is hit or miss...mostly miss but take a snack and you'll be fine. The staff is the friendliest I have encountered. Very positive and helpful people. The range is across the street but their practice facility is really very good. There are two practice holes as well.

The course looked good but the pace was bad. I played myself and a group of four held me up. They would not be bothering to offer me playing through

The greens are in great shape, surprised me with how much faster they were from the last time I played. Over all the course is a great course, challenging but not ridiculous. The employees are always friendly creating a great atmosphere.

The greens were in great condition. Enjoyed my round. The fact that I received a free buffet meal plus drink was a nice gesture by the staff. I will definitely return.

Enjoyed the course, very windy. Good condition for this time of year.

Course is in good condition. The pace of play was 5 hours. The Marshall does not speed up slow players.

Enjoyable and aesthetic

I enjoyed the conditions of the course but was disappointed that we were not allowed to play through by the group in front. Maybe a reminder at the clubhouse to allow faster groups play through would be nice.

My tournament league played Battleground today. I wish I could report that Battleground at Deer Park is in very good condition but it definitely is not.

We had a group of 26 guys with our first tee time at 9am. Course should have had time to prep the bunkers but that was not the case. It appeared they had not been prepped in a couple of days.

The greens...geez...lots of spots all over them that looked as if they had pulled out weeks or sprayed for some sort of weed. And, they were horribly slow. There was some sand on them but they just were not in good shape. Fairways were nice, tee boxes were ok (going to have minimal grass on tee boxes when they are surrounded by trees with little to not air circulation.

Overall...Battleground was very disappointing.

We play the course every year in our league and normally it is in much better shape.

Fairways and tee boxes in great shape.

Greens much better than they have been.

Sand traps not well maintained with some essentially unplayable.

Overall good value for money
