About
Thorntree opened in 1984, and while it has changed ownership multiple times over the years,it remains one of the toughest courses in the DFW area. The course features six lakes and three spring-fed creeks that spice up the layout, as well as immaculate fairways and challenging bent-grass greens.
On the front, No. 5 stands out as one of the most difficult holes – a 400 yard-plus par 4 that runs through a chute of trees and doglegs right into a green sided by a pond.
The back is a bit more difficult, which you’ll realize quickly due to the 666-yard double dogleg No. 10. The next hole is only a 382- yard par 4, but the approach is dicey into the shallow green. No. 13 is another nice hole–only 338 yards with another challenging approach into a green that’s guarded by an old thorn tree.
Getting there : From I-35 south, take the Wintergreen Road exit and turn right. Drive 4 miles to the course, and the entrance is on the right side.

Good value with TEE-OFF discount. Slow play for a Sunday morning. Still a nice round of golf.
HORRIBLE.
The stupidest course in the area. We played in the evening and they came to get us at 7:26!! Sunset is around 8:30-8:40 and they came and kicked us off with 3 holes to play. Stupid course, STAY AWAY.!!!
Good bang for your buck
I really enjoyed playing this course! Friendly staff, beautiful layout, accessible range and practice area. Only thing I didn’t like was the bunkers, but I assume that was due to bad weather damage. None of them were playable. Other than that, I would come back again to play!
No Marshall
No Marshall on the course. Had four groups on one tee box. Staff in the clubhouse extremely unprofessional. Avoid if you can. A 35 dollar round at BEST.
Didn’t charge correctly
On the app we had $187 due at the course. Ended up paying $216. The $21 fee to book was not credited and they claimed this was a golf now fee. So we had that fee and the convenience fee. The guy behind the counter became upset when confronted about it. Said we had to take it up with golf now. I have never paid over what the payment due at course was?
Great course
Only negative thing to say was golf cart service wasn’t consistent and readily available but great experience
This course was pure. In great condition. Have some hard holes but also alot of birdie holes. It was worth the drive from north dallas. I will be back 100%
Oh and top golf shot tracker on their range.
Good Value / Fun Layout
The course was pretty. No frills, golf carts could be updated but the staff was very friendly, shout out to Robin our beverage cart girl for keeping us hydrated and going above and beyond to make our experience pleasant. The course layout was great the greens were fantastic, fairways and tee boxes were in great shape and we enjoyed our round. Would definitely return and also recommend to friends. Cart paths could be fixed, a little rough to drive on some holes. Otherwise great course 👍🏻⛳️🏌️♂️
Pretty darn good
Good value for the money. There were some dead spots on the outskirts of the fair way and I only saw 1 green that was iffy, overall good shape. Pace of play was a slow, it’ll take minimum 4 & a half maybe more as the day goes on.
Slow pace of play
Left after 6 holes because I was behind a women's group that took over 3 hours just on the front 9. I asked for a rain check to come back and play another day because they wouldn't let us play through them and we were waiting 15 mins on every hole but they wouldn't allow it.
Great course
Wonderful place to play a quick 18. Course is in great shape and has a lot of personality. I thoroughly enjoyed it!
Good course for the money. Slow pace
First time playing this course. It was a fun track that needs a little TLC but overall I enjoyed. Would like to come back when its flush. Only able to play front 9 unfortunately.
more difficult than it at first seems
a somewhat challenging course. i’ve only been playing golf for a year now, and average around a 100, and this course has some challenges that were good for me, and i’d assume better golfers would really like

Go thru joined two partner and enjoy round with them.
Not much wet and well maintained courses and fairway.s.
Always friendly staff.
