About
Thorntree opened in 1984, and while it has changed ownership multiple times over the years,it remains one of the toughest courses in the DFW area. The course features six lakes and three spring-fed creeks that spice up the layout, as well as immaculate fairways and challenging bent-grass greens.
On the front, No. 5 stands out as one of the most difficult holes – a 400 yard-plus par 4 that runs through a chute of trees and doglegs right into a green sided by a pond.
The back is a bit more difficult, which you’ll realize quickly due to the 666-yard double dogleg No. 10. The next hole is only a 382- yard par 4, but the approach is dicey into the shallow green. No. 13 is another nice hole–only 338 yards with another challenging approach into a green that’s guarded by an old thorn tree.
Getting there : From I-35 south, take the Wintergreen Road exit and turn right. Drive 4 miles to the course, and the entrance is on the right side.

Kyle was very friendly and approachable. I always enjoy their free water or ice tea bring your own sugar preference. If you don’t like the generic sugars most restaurants provide. The golf carts are very comfortable and smooth riding with getup and go.

Thirsty
Course was nice, but we didn't see a water fountain or the beverage cart for the entire 18 holes on a Saturday afternoon. Would be good to put some water stations on the course.

Fun layout

Awesome course
This is one of the toughest tracks in the metroplex. The only downside is no water on the course and no cart person.

Asleep at the wheel
Why don't courses care about issuing notifications of aeration or sanded greens? This is without a doubt the biggest fraud committed by courses asking for "greens" fees! If courses are doing either of the previous mentioned course maintenances, Please, Please let players know. The entire course had heavily sanded greens on our day at the course and was not disclosed by the course on Golf Now. The other major issue is proper staffing at the golf course. The young man who checked us in Monday morning was literally the only person at the entire course serving customers. I know this because, after coming across 5somes and then a sixthsome, yes you read that right, I called the clubhouse to send out a marshall to govern the circus atmosphere at the course and the young man said there was nothing he could do because he was the only one there that day. Really, really poor Management!! It is an interesting layout and I think could be a good day of golf, but not with the haphazard and lackadaisical attitude of the exceptionally poor management. Shame on you Thorntree!

Nice Greens
The fairways were better than 2 weeks ago. Had some ladies cut in front of our tee time saying they were with the woman's league and needed to catch up with the others. Was in a good mood so didn't argue.

Greens are beautiful
Fairways need watering, ladies tee boxes need watering, but greens are really nice.

105 temp and no beverage cart or water on the course. Other than that it is a really nice course!
