About
Thorntree opened in 1984, and while it has changed ownership multiple times over the years,it remains one of the toughest courses in the DFW area. The course features six lakes and three spring-fed creeks that spice up the layout, as well as immaculate fairways and challenging bent-grass greens.
On the front, No. 5 stands out as one of the most difficult holes – a 400 yard-plus par 4 that runs through a chute of trees and doglegs right into a green sided by a pond.
The back is a bit more difficult, which you’ll realize quickly due to the 666-yard double dogleg No. 10. The next hole is only a 382- yard par 4, but the approach is dicey into the shallow green. No. 13 is another nice hole–only 338 yards with another challenging approach into a green that’s guarded by an old thorn tree.
Getting there : From I-35 south, take the Wintergreen Road exit and turn right. Drive 4 miles to the course, and the entrance is on the right side.

Very good greens
Grass is winter brown and super fast when you hit the fairways...loved the extra distance...greens were fantastic....fantastic I said...super fast very well maintained...best winter experience so far!!!

Course closed but tee times were on GOlf now
Should probably take the tee times off of golf now if your course is going to be closed that day. Drove all the way there for the course to be closed but the tee time was accepted on golf now.

Great course
If you are looking for a challenging yet fun course, Thornetree is where you need to be. The course layout is beautiful, the amenities will keep you coming back and lastly the Nineteenth hole has great food and drinks!!!!

Windy Day
Overall a fun course. Local knowledge is important with some tee shots. The greens can be tricky. Don’t short side the greens with some extreme slopes. Great pace of play. Some great views of beautiful homes. Worth a visit.

Nice Golf Course
It was like having a private course to yourself. No one was out in the early morning around 9am. The greens rolled true and the course is long from the tips.

Great Course Overall
This is an overall great course. Holes number 11 and 12 verge on being unfair due to the harsh slope of the fairways towards the water. It’s disappointing to hit a great tee shot just to end up in the water. The best way to play hole 11, is to hit it hard to the right and play the other fairway and then just hit a pitch shop to the green

Course for the winter season is in pretty good condition. Play from the correct tee box based on your handicap because the course will humble you. Very nice course.... will play again.

Great Layout and great price
Always has a decent amount of tee times available even if you’re late to the punch. Great morning green fee, definitely beats any other course when it comes to price and condition. Sometimes slow but it’s golf so that happens. Layout is really fun, and greens usually are pretty good.

3rd time playing, course in great shape considering
Greens were in amazing shape. Was rainy most of the morning but still a solid round. Always love Thorntree and great prices for alcohol with the cart girl.

Solid value
Greens is great shape for a public track this time of year. Long frost delay in the morning so the course was incredibly backed up, but not much they can do about that I guess. Fun layout
