Wailea Golf Club - Old Blue Course
About
The flagship of the three golf courses at Wailea Golf Club on Maui, Blue is a classic Arthur Jack Snyder design built in 1972. The golf course rolls along the foothills of 10,000-foot-high Mt. Haleakala, a dormant volcano that dominates the skyline. This scenic Hawaiian resort-style course features both Pacific Ocean and volcano views and plays 6,545 yards from the championship tees, though each hole has three tee boxes for players of every skill level. The Blue course is close enough to the water that, from certain points like the 12th tee boxes, whales can be spotted.

Great course; no marshal.
We loved the course. It took about 2 hours for the front nine. However, the back nine took about 3 hours. The group two groups in front of us ended up having four carts and five people. They took and exceptionally long time. Eventually some guy behind us it into us twice--ball landed 10-15 yards behind-- and even approached us and the man and daughter in the group ahead and yelled at us to speed up our play. He was way off base! I yelled back that it was people two groups ahead. The guy in front of us walked back and had a stiff conversation with the guy. There was no marshal to solve this problem before it happened.
Classic Hawaii Resort Golf
Very good resort golf course, fun and challenging. Remember to look around as you play to enjoy the scenery and flora. First class.
My favourite course on Maui
The Old Blue has become my favourite course on Maui, now that Makena North is closed for major renovation. This is simply a beautiful old track. Wide fairways, great variety of holes, and beautifully maintained. You would score better if the greens weren't so tricky. They're in great shape, but lots of subtleties in them makes you happy to two putt. It's well worth the $80 GolfNow price I paid.
Great Maui Course!!!
This is a great course with plenty of challenge... if you can keep your concentration off the spectacular views. The greens are in great shape and take some real interpretation to avoid the 3-putts.
It's Maui!
My wife drove the cart & kept score but got bored by hole #9, which is very unusual for her. She found one of the three men I played with to be very rude, so she gave up and returned to the bar while I played the back nine. I enjoyed the game. Tom was a great partner to ride along with. Aloha!!~
Great Layout!
My wife and I enjoy this course as it is wide open and challenging at the same time. We'll be back!
Better then I thought it would be
The course was in good shape. The greens we in great shape. I should have played the blue tees as the course was playing to short from the whites. The course is a great value thru GolfNow and a great place for couples to play.
Fun and beautiful
We had a great time playing golf on the Old Blue. Fairway is very wide and beautiful. Very well maintained course. Several holes have spectacular view of the ocean. The sand in the sand bunker is hard and more compacted so you have to hit differently. I think all bunkers need more sand.
Long holes, but wide fare ways which gives room for errors, but still challenging
Love to play this course, challenging but not to the point of taking the fun of playing. Course is always in great shape, the staff is friendly and helpful . The cost is on the higher range but you get all the top end services and emanates.
Again, great views
Well designed to work with the trade winds. Course winds through several tunnels and over bridges for an interesting drive. Enjoy the surroundings and forget about not making any putts. It will be a day of 3 putts. A beautiful course with no reason to complain, unless you are a natural complainer.
Great resort couse
Great course for 9-25 handicap. Beautiful course, scenic views and gorgeous landscaping. Lot of very open fairways. I'm a 12, easy reach second shot par 4's from the white tees. Low handicap definitely play blue tees. Too many 3 putts!! Greens are large, contoured, and down grain putts very fast, easy to go 10 feet by. Read grain on every putt... Fun par 3's, including 18.
Very straight forward older resort course in great condition. Pretty short, and wide fairways, the challenge is on and around the greens. Read the grain!
beautiful views, wide fairways, good greens
I will play there again. If it is windy it is very hard to read as it swirls around. Mulligan's pub afterwards is fun with great entertainment.
Beautiful views, with wide open fairways.
Helpful and friendly staff. Very clean and well kept course grounds. Would definitely play again.
Difficult putting greens & grabby chipping grass
Difficult putting greens and grabby chipping grass caused many bogies.
Fun course to play particularly for we seniors.
Long time since I had played the course but found it well maintained. The greens were quick and hard to read. Fairways were wide.
This course has wide and well kept fairways. Greens are nice.
The course winds through condos and homes in the Wailea area. Fairways are wide so the homes don't come into play. Several holes have scenic views of the ocean. Much different than the other Wailea courses but a treat to play as well.
Our favorite course in Hawaii
Old Blue is our favorite course in Hawaii. I play with my husband who is 68 years old and has a 12 handicap. It is always wonderfully groomed and the design is old school. No tortured ground or blind, tricky shots. Just beautiful Hawaiian landscape. The fairways are wide and the greens are challenging. The carts are equipped with GPS and water is available at several locations. Value for the money is good when compared to most of the courses on Maui, but I can't bring myself to call it "great" which was the only other option that Golf Now gave me.
Typical beautiful Hawaiian golf course. This old course is a classic. Ocean views and moutain views.
Paired me up with a 7 handicap guy from Australia and we had a wonderful time. Played the Blue Tees which is a little challenging for my 14 handicap but held my own because the course is a little more forgiving than the other Wailea courses. Paid to have my wife drive the cart but worth it to see this beautiful course and it's remarkable views.
