The Summit at Shanty Creek

About
During the winter Shanty Creek offers more than 50 ski runs but in the summer it becomes one of northern Michigan's top golf vacation spots. The club boasts four championship courses, one of which is designed by Arnold Palmer and another by Tom Weiskopf. The Summit Course is the club's original layout. The golf course has a similar terrain to the other three but it is not as dramatically hilly. The layout has a traditional design that incorporates player-friendly elements including putting complexes with open fronts that are more accessible to those who can't hit high, soft approaches. The greens on the seventh and eighth, two of the course's most memorable holes, are an exception though. They require both accuracy and a soft touch. The golf course is approachable for all skill levels, but tight, tree-lined fairways keep it challenging.

Disappointed
Don’t bother with this course. Poor layout and conditions. Large dry patches.Too many nice courses in the area to play a neighborhood style course. Very disappointed
Best Bang 4 Buck
Best course you can play in Northern Michigan for 50 Dollars. Has all you want in a course but a steep tee fee. I would recommend to any level player.
Great Course
Awesome Course, great views, beautifu! Great condition
Summit
Course was in good condition. Greens speed were great. Hole layout was tough but fun.
Nice Course!
Decided to play this course as we had already played a couple of the other Shanty Creek ones and it was okay. Some of the tee boxes were a little worn, some patchy areas on some fairways noted. Greens were fast/slow and pin placements made some putts difficult. We did have to wait on some holes because the group ahead were all over with their hits. Greeting guy for carts seemed as if he didn’t want to be there. We were not told there would be no beverage cart which if you didn’t bring your own you’d be without because there is no water on the course. There are portable toilets, didn’t use. 12th green bunkers were not groomed so full of eroding sand. Overall not as nice as the other courses.
Beautiful course
This course is a good test of anyone’s skills. Hat’s off to the grounds crew.
Greens and fairways good condition. Cart paths a rough ride.
Troubled Fairways
Many bad spots in the fairways so if you don’t mind moving you ball a foot or so you’ll enjoy your round. Pricing reflects the condition. Lot of elevation changes.
Decent course for the money
Fairways and greens were not the best quality, but overall a fair value for the price.
Very very poor condition
Front 9 worst condition summer golf I have ever played
Summit review
Conditions are the worst I've seen out here and I've played it for years. Greens are rough in places but still roll true but definitely slower than the rest of the courses on property. It's a great and fun layout though. Could do without the foot golf holes out there but they don't really interfere. For $35 at a resort, it's worth it.
Fairways in bad shape. Greens fine, old, carts. No water or cart person with drinks/snacks.
Played here for 20 years and worst I have seen fairways,, Carts tired, ours barely made it to 18. Greens in good shape. Paid $40 on GolfNow deal- that’s probably all it’s worth right now given conditions. No water cooler - doesn’t make sense.
