Worst course ever!
Played this course for the first time and I'll never return. It's a huge rattlesnake field. Even if the course was free it's not worth it. Do yourself a favor and pay $50 to play golf club of California.
You want to play here because its so cheap but you will regret it
All in all, this golf course is slowly dying and it seems the staff have no intention of repairing it. Give them credit for at least making the greens semi-playable, but the fairways are so dead, you can actually leave a trail of dust behind your cart if you golf on a hot and dry day. The tee boxes are not much better as it took me a little while to find a spot soft enough to put my tee into the ground, otherwise it's just all clay. Overall great layout of the course but until they decide to put some work into it, the course will continue to die.
Better hit it straight
Course is being left to rot. Any shot a tad offline is a lost ball. Fairways are unwatered, uncut, and ragged. Rough is overgrown and untouched. Course is days away from being closed or sold, or sold and closed. Dont pay more than $10....unless you dont value money. Horrendous conditions.
Worst golf course I have ever played
The golf course is locking of maintenance since the course is looking for the new ownership to take over. The fairway condition was very bad.
Don't pay more than 15 bucks to play here.
I hate seeing courses go under and this course is one of them. It's sad cause the course would be a nice challenge with the layout, however it's going to take a lot of water and maitaince to get some grass out in fairway and to make those greens roll more like a 10-12 instead of a 0 to -1 like they where that day. SLOW SLOW. If your going to play there make sure you bring old clubs so your don't break your nice ones.
Owner has closed and reopened and not put any thought to the conditions for the money spent. Greens very shaggy. Fairways only a little covered with grass because of recent rain. I don't think the owner spends a dime on water. The roughs and areas around the green make the U.S. Open setup look easy. Been playing this course since 1988. Golfnow should at least have a disclaimer for tee times! I will never spend more than five dollars on this course. And that is only to cover the cost of the five range balls that deserve to be used on this course that I lose in the grass next to the green.
It looks like this course is doomed to go to way of San Luis Rey Downs and I really feel bad for the homeowners and neighbors.I guess the owner can't make the course run and make a profit (he drives a new Hummer)so it's in escrow and we probably won't be playing it again.I'm sorry to see it go-always sad when golf courses close.
Course needs work
It seemed like no one cares about this place. I showed as a single and there was no one else to team up with and I had to stand outside to see if I could join up with people that were going out as the were on the way to the first tee. I won't return.
Not worth the money
Go to Arrowwoood, Gulf Club of California, for the price. Course not a 50.00 course.
Are You Kidding?
I've landed on better grass Runways. The day started out with nobody at the snack bar. The cart had been wrecked and we couldn't get our clubs out of the back every time we would hit a shot. The holes weren't marked, the greens wre horrible and there was junk in the bunkers. We left after six holes.
Keep it open
Rumor has it that the course is closing. It is a beautiful setting and with some money and effort this course could attract more players from out of the area. It is a country feel unlike anywhere else. I hope someone that appreciates it's value would want to keep it alive as a golf course.
Need a face lift.
I was told there was a change in ownership recently, The new owner needs to step up to the plate and re-evaluate the condition of the course.
Poor fairways. okay greens To many weeds and gofer holes in the fairways. Save Falllbrook.com signs everywhere. okay for the money. The course needs a lot of tender love and care.
Not the same couese
I realize why the homeowners are upset at the course. The owner appears to have let the course go and just get as much money as he can until the place is sold. Very bad, has holes, yardage markers, but no upkeep.
An occasional golfer
The course needs water badly. Sand traps need water and raking. The greens were pretty good , everything else is apparently not receiving any care.
Good course, poorly maintained
Fallbrook golf course is a mix of friendly staff and poorly maintained fairways. Greens are generally acceptable. Golfers drive carts near greens and over tees -- very poor etiquette. The biggest problem with the course is that it is getting worse over time. It needs to be maintained better and marshals should be more strict in enforcing cart traffic so maintenance staff is not working uphill!
Really too bad.
What a shame! This course was obviously a great track at one time, but no longer. To be fair, the greens are still quite good, but the fairways are non existent and there doesn't seem to be anything being done about it. It looks like the tee boxes have been reseeded, but no attempt to keep players off to allow growth. A great setting, with lots of mature trees, but all that potential is being wasted. The young man in the pro shop was very helpful.
