Apache Wells Country Club
About
Located next to several residential areas, the golf course at the Apache Wells Country Club was designed with seniors in mind. With that consideration, the course is mostly flat to make it an easily walkable. The course was originally only a nine-hole course but in 1966, Milt Coggins designed the back nine holes. Trees line many of the fairways and there is also a housing development that runs alongside the fairways. Water hazards also come into play on several holes. Being so close to a residential area, there are many out-of-bounds stakes on both sides. Apache Wells Country Club is open to the public from mid-April to the end of October.

The course is in great shape. The fairways are a plush green and the rough is not too long. The greens are faster than I expected considering it is not too many days since over-seeding.
Great flat course
Flat walkable course with VERY nice carts
A good introduction to Mesa golf
Shotgun start
Course seemed to get large groups out all at once and pace of play worked
Wide Open Fairways
AWGC was in generally good playing conditions today. Tee boxes were a little shaggy, fairways trimmed nicely, rough was rough, and greens were slow and bouncy (likely still recovering from aeration awhile ago). Sand traps appeared in good shape (though I escape all of them). Was able to complete my round in less than 3.5 hours, walking. Overall experience was good.
Great course
Staff was super friendly, course was in fantastic condition. I will for sure be playing there again.
Gem
This course is super forgiving and beautiful. Bunkers were sandy.
Staff is friendly and informative.
Love this course.
Private Course, Don't Let Them Fool You
This is a private course that sometimes opens to the public, but don't be fooled. The members of this golf club are jerks who do whatever they want and disrespect the public players. You'll get your tee time moved or cancelled to make way for members, and members are allowed to play in groups of 5+, and keeping a decent pace is the last thing on their mind. The ranger isn't even allowed to say anything to them when they're playing at a dying dogs pace. Leave this place to the elitists and move on.
Members Only Club, Don't Let Them Fool You
First time I played here, it was great--nice course, well kept, friendly staff, what else could you ask for? Today I had the displeasure of meeting the course president and his lackeys who run the place like the mafioso. The president isn't shy about calling the ranger to his side everytime he needs a non-member harassed. My group was harassed constantly for half of our round because the president didn't like the fact that we were there during a shotgun scramble happening that day--why do you allow the public to book tee times during scrambles if you don't want them there--oh I get it, you want our money. We finally ended up having to skip 4 holes just to get them to stop bothering us. If you're going to treat the public like crap, then just make this a private, members-only course. I won't be going back here and I don't recommend you go either.
