Apache Wells Country Club
About
Located next to several residential areas, the golf course at the Apache Wells Country Club was designed with seniors in mind. With that consideration, the course is mostly flat to make it an easily walkable. The course was originally only a nine-hole course but in 1966, Milt Coggins designed the back nine holes. Trees line many of the fairways and there is also a housing development that runs alongside the fairways. Water hazards also come into play on several holes. Being so close to a residential area, there are many out-of-bounds stakes on both sides. Apache Wells Country Club is open to the public from mid-April to the end of October.

AZ weather has been tumultuous so it expected not to be perfect. We saw maybe 9 downed trees. Greens had much debris from trees, traps were dry but hard panned. Our major disappointment was that Golf Now or the course website did not mention a single issue with the coures. Upon arriving we were informed back nine was closed. This sucks when paying these fees in the summer of Arizona. Please do better.
Easy Breezy (lil bumpy)
Greens were still recovering in August 8th from punching. Honestly somehow ran quite fast, not too bumpy like day after but just some slight residue. By this time I’d imagine they’re healed. Every other aspect was above average, tees clean, rough timid and trim, fairways were clipped short. Bunkers were rather maintained. Great price for a fun easy round to shoot a score. My partner and I played 18 holes in under 3 hours on a Sunday. What’s to complain about??
Not bad
Very friendly layout, good condition, would have been nice to have a beverage cart on such a hot humid day.
Had fun...
We had a great time. The only thing, no one told us the greens were aerated. But overall my son visiting from LA enjoyed it.
Never disappoints...
I've played here 3 times and AW is always in good shape, scenery is lovey, pace is steady, the surrounding residents are quiet, I could go on. Just a lovely course to play.
East Valley Summer Breeze
Played with my usual father and father in law group on Sunday. Course was in prestige conditions, nothing notable to complain about that would hamper your ability to shoot a score. Pat in the pro shop is a local icon!! Love this course and love the value it provides. Plush carts, great conditions including pure as carpet greens, water and ice machines a plenty, bathrooms, $2 beers...what’s not to love!
Really enjoy Apache Wells Golf Course in Mesa, AZ
We really enjoy this course and will return again and again. We like the mix of the length of holes. Clubhouse is friendly and well run. The fairways are in excellent shape for this time of year. Love playing here.
Good value for the money
I enjoyed playing my first round there. It’s not a difficult course. Staff was pleasant, weather was warm but not too hot. Like most courses now, it was quite dry. Greens and fairways ok but dry. The course is well maintained. Pace was good. I’ll go back…
Good value, open course
This course is perfect for the average player. Wide open fairways allows for those that spray the ball. Greens were good, nice speed. Not a difficult course, good for working on your game.
Top notch
Course condition was 1st rate
Greens quick and fair
Bad excellent
What else is there to say...
