desert course with lots of sand and several levels in many greens

I always enjoy the trip up to Wickenburg C.C.
Friendly Staff, great views, great course. W.C.C. has a small town feel that I like. Maybe it's because I'm from Montana, but I like the fact that if your not in the fairway, (or rough), you are in the desert. It's best to use their map if you haven't played before. There are some "blind" tee shots and it helps to know how much you may be able to "cut a corner", saving a lot of yardage.

Waiting 30 minutes for a burger and brat before we teed off was pretty ridiculous.
‘This the season
I teed off solo in the 1:04 p.m. slot on a stellar late autumn afternoon (65F). Ended up playing with a local, Tom, Gary from Show Low, & Steve from Haines, Alaska (I spent 30 years in Fairbanks, Alaska). As with most recreational rounds the grouping is just as impactful to your on-course experience as course conditions. Couldn’t have asked for better in both cases. Diane is my favorite clubhouse staffer!

I usually shot in the low 80's - breaking 80 1/5 rounds or so. The course played 6320 from the blues/back tees - for myself this is a short course from the back. It was recommended from the staff and some patrons to play from the white tees the first time anyone plays this course because of the difficulty. Bring plenty of balls playing from the back was suggested by many at the course. This was true - you can't see very many landing areas from the blue. You either guess at an aiming point or take the time to drive up to see for yourself on every hole. I was a really fun course to play - plan on it taking 4 - 4 1/2 hours to play on the weekend.

I will be sure to remind the staff to offer our complimentary yardage guides, especially to first time players. We try to keep our rounds closer to 4 hours or less but on rare occasions it goes a little longer than that. We are happy to hear that you enjoyed your round and hope to see you again soon. Old style golf course with narrow fairways and small greens. Lots of blind tee shots. Course knowledge makes a big difference best to play with a member the first time or two. Course was in good condition but fairways are still being over watered had mud balls all day.

Local knowledge is a huge bonus when playing our course, especially on those holes where the direction isn't as clear.

Late autumn awesomeness!
My wife and I made the 75 minute trek from our hometown of Prescott to spend a night off of our own turf. Clerk Diane was super helpful in pairing me up with my fellow competitors. The clubhouse, restaurant and general facilities were immaculate. The course was in fantastic shape with the exception of two bumpy greens. My playing partners included a local who guided us around the courses’ adventurous but fair layout. Thanks Jim. It’s target golf in some places so know what you’ve got in the bag and what you typically hit distance-wise with them. Loved this course!

Getting to appreciate this course more each time I play.
There are a number of severe dog legs on this course that forces you to play a more strategic game. Once I started playing that way my game got better. This course is quite narrow on a majority of the holes so bring your straight game. I think that playing this course often will improve my game. Right now it is in better shape than I have ever seen it...both fairways and greens. Somebody is paying more attention to the course conditions than in the past.
Thank you for taking the time to review our course and most importantly, thank you for taking the time to play it. The golf course is in very good condition with few exceptions. We are lucky to have the course superintendent that we have. Very few people would be willing to take on the challenges that go with maintaining this golf course. We look forward to seeing you again in the near future for another enjoyable round of golf!
i would return
While a relatively short course, it has its challenges. I find it to be a quirky course. The fairways are in really good shape, but a few of the greens have some bare spots. Like most desert-style courses, the key is to keep it in the fairway on most holes.

Black Friday Morning
Instead of messing with the after Thanksgiving madness it looked to be great weather, so we headed up from Phoenix to Wickenburg for a round of golf. We made the right choice and had a great time. Course has a very creative layout that none of the top golf course designers could have dreamed of. Lots of natural landscape that will eat your ball if you are not careful and accurate. This was our second time playing here and we will be back.
